    I am looking for anyone researching the KNOWLES family of Kaufman County.  Micajah Harris Knowles was born in 1832 in TN; he died sometime after 1900. His children were: George W. b. 1857; Mary b. 1858; Elizabeth b. 1859; Garrett b. 1861; Emily Senora b. 1866; Robert b. 1868; Dora b. 1874; Nicanor b. 1875; Flora b. 1877; and Guy b. 1878. (Some of these dates are approximate only). Other members of this family also lived in Kaufman County.

    Seeking information on Clarence Henry WINN or WYNN. His son, Lawrence, was born in Kaufman County Aug. 3, 1896. Clarence Jr. was killed in a train mishap in Ft. Towson, OK., in 1915. He was born in 1893 but we do not know where....possibly in Kaufman. Thank you.

    I am looking for information on Rufus LAWRENCE. He was the first husband of Mary Alice LEDBETTER. I have read the file submitted by Wanda Ellerbee and her Mary Alice Ledbetter is also my husbands grandmother. Mary Alice's 1st husband was Rufus Lawrence. I am looking for date and place of marriage and Rufus's parents. Mary Alice's 2nd husband was Edgar Temple CLEMENTS. Mary Alice's 3rd husband was Frank CLAYTON. Children of Mary Alice and Rufus say that Rufus was accidently shot and killed by a friend on Christmas day 1890. Children of Mary Alice and Rufus are Della Mae LAWRENCE and Varney Thomas LAWRENCE. Any information you can find will be most helpful. Thank you.

    I am looking for any information on John A. MCCONNELL. He was supposed to have lived in the Kaufman County area around 1880. Was listed on the 1880 census index and I was seeking more information on him. Trying to determine if this is my GGGrandfather or not. Was wondering if any one had knowledge of whether or not this McConnell had a wife named Deliah/Dilah and a daughter named Effie and if by chance he came from Indiana. Effie was married in 1886 to William Thomas MITCHELL in the town of Chisolm, Rockwall County. Any information you might have would be appreciated.

    I am searching for information on Littleton MITCHELL, supposedly died in Rockwall County in 1898 and buried in Chissum Cemetery. I am seeking any information on him.

    I am looking for any information concerning my great grandfather Elias Lorenzo DOW. Elias came from Indiana and died in Kaufman Co. on Feb 14 1904. He is buried in a small cemetery. He was married to Anna Mary SHOWERS on July 21 1877 in Mowequa, Shelby Co., Illinois. After his death Anna moved to Upshur Co. Texas. I believe his parents were Benjamin and Syrena DOW also from Shelby Co. ILL.
    My grandfather, James Elias DOW was born in Terrell, Kaufman Co., Texas on April 10, 1886.

    I am searching for Jefferson Peace PLEDGER who lived in Kaufman, Van Zandt and Henderson counties. He lived near where the three counties meet. Jeff PLEDGER was killed 25 July 1946 by the then City Marshall in Mabanks. The trial was moved to Dallas at one point. Jeff Pledger was the local vet and had worked some law enforcement also. I have an article that states the he and Dave Drennan were part of a party that had a run in with Bonnie and Clyde.

    My Grandfather Egbert Valson JONES died in Kemp(?) Kaufman County December 12, 1899. Have a piece of newspaper clipping. My Father (Egbert Valson JONES - same name) may have been born there March 21, 1900. Grandmother's name was Mollie Bird STAFFORD (JONES). My Dad was the youngest of eight. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    I am seeking information on James M. DOUGHERTY born 1818 in Kentucky. He married Sarah E., (last name unknown), born 1829 in Tennessee. They had 2 children, Elizabeth A., born 1849 in Kentucky and Celia J., born 1851 in Kentucky, when they came to Kaufman County. The following children were born: Andrew J., born 1854 in Texas, William B., born 1863 in Texas, George W., born 1865 in Texas, Martha E., born 1868 in Texas and Eliza B., born June 1, 1866 in Kaufman County, Texas. Eliza B. married Joseph Henry HEFFINGTON on December 25, 1881. To this marriage was born Mary Ora on September 19, 1887. They also had the following children of which some may have been born in Kaufman County: Audie and Jim, Alta, Jodie, Charles, May and Hamon. Eliza and Joseph moved to the Connerville, Oklahoma area where they lived until their deaths. The surname could also be spelled DAUGHERTY. I am in the process of seeking records to confirm the spelling.

    I am searching for information on "Bill" ROLLON and wife Mary "Lavisa" THOMASON. He was born Jan. 1854 in Miss. or Alabama. She was born May 1862 in Texas. They were married June 12, 1879 in Texas. I believe they lived in Kaufman, TX for a while. Their children were: Bishop Marvin, Benjamin, Bert, Bryon Drew, Elmer, Willard, and Lillian.     I am looking for info on Jessie MAY who died Oct 10, 1924 and is buried in the Crandall TX cemetary. We visited there last summer and found the graveof his wife Katie May but not for Jessie. His brother, Jim MAY is also supposed to be buried at the Crandall Cemetary. I did find out that there is one grand-daughter still living in Kaufman (City) but did not know that at the time we were there. Is there a newspaper I could contact that might have the obits on file/micrefilm? Thank you for any advice/assistance. Loretta May

    Am seeking info on Edwin S KELLEY b- 1857 Saprta IL- he owned the Blue Front Saloon on the Kaufman Square from 1878-1910. He married in Kaufman to Mary Francis (Mollie) CARTER 29 Nov 1881. They had 4 children there:
    Odell Carter KELLEY married Ella LAROE, Edwin S Jr,
    Lelia Anna KELLEY married Harold v ANDERSON &
    William Lanier KELLEY married Ethyl May BOYD.

    Any info on Edwin or his family is appreciated.

He married Martha Jane LOVE 1851 Kaufman Co- They had 4 children: John William CARTER, Joseph CARTER, Sarah Amanda CARTER & Mary Francis (Mollie) CARTER. John William married katie NEUGENT, Sarah amanda married John C BRYANT & Mary Francis married Edwin S KELLEY. Martha Jane had a son by a previous marriage- His name was David Mitchell WEATHERFORD b-1843 MO. He married Elizabeth jane Stephenson LOVE 1866 Kaufman Co & they had a son named David M WEATHERFORD III (called Temple).
    If you have any info on the CARTERs, LOVEs or WEATHERFORDs of Kaufman County I would love to hear from you-

    My grandmother is buried in Crandall Cemetery, Kaufman County, TX. There is no headstone, she is buried either between or beside my great grandparents (Tom NALLS and Dolly NALLS - SALMON). Her name was Lester MITCHELL - NALLS born 1890 in Hopkins County, TX, I believe that Lester was a nick name, she had two brothers--Collier & Pete, two sisters Edna and Byrd. Her parents were Joe MITCHELL and Minnie SMITH. she married my grandfather Walter A NALLS in Sulphur Springs, TX about 1908, I know that in 1911 they lived in Seagoville,Tx, because that is where my Dad was born.
