HISTORY: This limestone house is probably one of the oldest houses in Boerne. It was started about 1849 for Clara and Henry Clemens. The Clemens family sold the house to Justina and Jacob Luckenbach in 1895, who then sold to Emilie Katherine and Clara Luckenbach in 1897. Emilie died, leaving the house to Clara. Subsequent owners were Meta and Edward W. Zinsmeister, the Sam Beyers family and Mabel Lausen. It is now owned by Mr. and Mrs. Richard Asher.

The Ashers completely restored this 1 1/2 story, gable roofed, Pioneer German structure inside and out through their own efforts. The foundation they discovered was solid limestone all the way to the gables of the roof without any cedar posts. While chipping the stucco walls in the kitchen, they were delighted to find a fireplace in the living area which had been sealed off years ago. An old St. Louis newspaper dated 1893 was unearthed inside a window structure and is on display in their home along with many unique pieces of furniture and antiques. (1984)
