RANZAU, (BRUNO) HOUSE
Sisterdale Road, near Boerne

HISTORY: A letter written in 1971 from Bruno Ranzau, who grew up on this property: He says, "My father and mother moved onto a tract of land known as the Christian Trout Survey. There they lived in a log house to which they erected an addition of native stone. This addition was in 1897. In 1906 there was a fire which destroyed the log section entirely. It also burned the contents of the stone structure and severely damaged the stone walls of the addition, however, most of it was saved and reinforced and rebuilt. In 1907, they added an addition to the stone part. Except for some remodeling which I [Bruno Ranzau] did in 1937, it is still very much the same as it was before I took over. It has a placard bearing the date 1897 and my father's initials up on the west wall.
