GREMMEL-DAVIS HOUSE

HISTORY: In 1881 this property became part of the Hughes Family whose story was told by Garland Perry in his book, "An American Saga: William George Hughes, 1859-1902. W.G. Hughes married Lucy Stephenson in 1888. It was ten years later, in 1898, that they sold 1 1/3 acres to Lucy's sister, Ella Stephenson. She built the house in that year. It sold to several others throughout the years until, in 1948 the house was purchased by Col. Fred Gremmel and his wife, Georgia Lou. It has been continuously in this family to the present day. The grand-son of the Gremmel's, Craig Davis, restored and revitalized the house in 1998, receiving an award from Boerne Area Historical and Preservation Society.
