DESCRIPTION: One story modern home built on land owned by Annie Hall's family.

HISTORY

This house was built by Mr. and Mrs. Herb Hall to occupy in their later. Mrs. Hall "was born Annie Lou Houston in Mason, Texas and was brought to Boerne at the age of 10 years to live with her aunt, Era Davis. She attended the Royal School and later she went to work at Ye Kendall Inn [proprietor R. L. Hilman] where her grandmother, Minnie Spears, was the cook.....after leaving the employ of the Inn, Annie spent some time working for H.O. Adler of Boerne and the W.E. Simpson family in San Antonio......It was during this time that she met the famous jazz musician, Herb Hall. They were introduced by cousin Minnie, and after a courtship they were married and Annie's travels began. She was literally on the road for the next 46 years before returning to Boerne to settle down in 1977. Her longest stop was in New York City where Herb played at Eddie Condon's and Jimmy Ryan's, two famous jazz clubs in the Big Apple."--excerpted from the Dec. 5, 1984, Hill Country Recorder article by Corky Corcoran, "A Christmas Visit With Annie".

Herb Hall is a well-known clarinetist who has played Dixieland with many popular bands one of which was Jim Cullum's band of San Antonio.

After Herb Hall died in 1996, Annie moved to California.
