DESCRIPTION: One and one-half story with two front entrances separated by a 3 window bay. Originally there were two porches on east and west sides with gingerbread trim. Only east side porch remains. Original roof was shingle. Stained glass on front bay window.
HISTORY: This house, known as the Holekamp House, was the home
of Hedwig (Flach) & Paul Holekamp for over fifty years. They attended school
in Comfort. Mr. Paul Holekamp, after receiving his Teachers' Certificate from
Huntsville College, taught school in Comfort. He was elected Kendall County Tax
Assessor in 1904 which office he held for over 30 years until said office and
Sheriff's office was combined. In 1906 he became Cashier in the newly organized
Boerne State Bank. It was about this time that they built their new home on a
knoll in the east side of Boerne.
In 1916 he prepared his first Abstract
of Title for Radcliffe Spencer and started his Abstract Business under the name
of Paul Holekamp Abstractor. In 1939 he organized the Kendall County Abstract
company in which he was active until his death. Paul died in 1959 at age 82 and
Hedwig died in 1976 at age 94.
The house remained in the Holekamp family
until about 2000, being occupied by the great- grandson of Paul and Hedwig, also
named Paul Holekamp, until he sold to the current owner.
