FALTIN (AUGUST) HOUSE

HISTORY: This two and one-half story, Victorian house was the home of the August Faltin family. Designed by Albert Beckman, son-in-law of Alfred Giles, in 1894, has long been considered one of the community's finest homes. It also boasts the only residential elevator in Comfort, a stable, and water tower. Decorating the front gables are elaborate bargeboards with patterns in brick in two colors. The front wrap-around gallery was added in 1937.The original rock and iron fence was overturned in the 1978 flood.
