SCHUETZE, (PAUL JAMES) HOUSE
402 E. Bandera, Boerne

DESCRIPTION: Two story Victorian with front porch; decorated pillars; stained glass bay window in kitchen.

HISTORY: House was purchased in San Antonio, TX, 1995 and moved to 402 E. Bandera Street, Boerne. It had been located at 1030 Hackberry which was it's second location. First location unknown. The original roof was lowered to move the house and was in such bad condition that it was removed completely. After the house was in place on Bandera, a second story was added, designed and built by P.J. Most of the materials used for restoration were carefully purchased from salvage yards. The porch pillar came from Beeville. The "capitals" which hold the roof in place were reproduced from broken originals by New Orleans artist and sculptor, Jack Riley Coleson Payne. The Pillared porch is now a special feature of the house as well as a stained glass bay window in the kitchen and decorative shingles on the roof. The interior is also restored in Victorian style.
