ROY MAAS YOUTH ALTERNATIVES
121 Old San Antonio Rd, Boerne

DESCRIPTION: Two story, stucco, hipped roof with wide overhang supported by carved bracket; windows with 3 pane light above, narrow, slightly inset. Basic rectanglular plan. Front living room off porch ran full length of house; porch later removed; large stone fireplace remains.

HISTORY: Dr. Ferdinand Herff owned a large tract of land along Cibolo Creek as the creek turned southward along the east edge of the town of Boerne. He divided the property among his six sons. Each of the sons built a home on his portion. They were all professional men with homes in San Antonio also. This house was the home of the Peter Herff family.

Retired Col. Murray Wilson and wife, lived here with their daughter, Fran Wilson Elkins and her children, Thomas and Susan, in the 1950s. They were living here when Fran married Mr. A.T. Wendler

For many years now the house and surrounding property have been the home of a youth alternative school known as "Meadowlands". Recently it has been called the "Roy Maas Youth Alternatives."

This is a sketch of the Herff homes along the Cibolo Creek.
