William Houston Irwin

My gggrandfather joined the Confederacy, I believe from Leon County. His name was William Houston Irwin. Here is what Ancestry.com says:

Regimental History
22nd Texas Infantry Rgt.

The regiment was formed in the summer of 1862 using the 5th (Hubbard's) Texas Infantry Bn. and included men from Palestine, Quitman, Livingston, Mason and Tyler. It was assigned to O. Young's, Waul's brigade, Trans-Mississippi Department.

Battles Fought
It fought at Young's Point and Jenkins' Ferry. It moved to Shreveport, La. and then to Hempstead, Texas. It disbanded prior to the June 1865 surrender.
