Florence [Alexander] Morgan Powell

Mrs. Florence [Alexander] Morgan Powell of Route 1, Oakwood, died at 1:30 p.m. Friday in a local nursing home after a long illiness. She was 86.

Funeral services are to be held at 2 p.m. today in the Hassell & Foster Chapel here with Rev. Jack Smith and the Rev. Otis Felton officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dock Squyres, Preacher Squyers, Jess Favors, Melvin Weisinger, S. M. Keils, James Killough, Pete Lipsey and R. V. Alexander.

Mrs. Powell was born October 30, 1885, in Angelina County, a daughter of the late Tom Alexander and Mrs. Fronia Prestidge Alexander. She had made her home in Oakwood since 1932. Her husband, C. W. Powell, preceded her in death on April 24, 1955.

She is survived by two sons, Charley A. Morgan of Oakwood and Robert (Bud) Morgan of Ft. Worth; three daughters, Mrs. Jewett (Bessie) Kiser of Palestine, Mrs. Rosie Page of Oakwood, and Mrs. Fanie Maude Tacker of Fort Worth; 13 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
