Deed between Samuel Forge and William Sikes - Volume 4/Page 278

Wm Sikes & Wife to/Deed Samuel Forge 3-28-1889

Limestone County

Know all men by these presents that we William Sikes and his wife Jane Sikes of said state and county for and in considerations of the sum of two hundred and eighty-five dollars sold to us in hand paid by Samuel Forge also of said State and county and for the further consideration of his certain promissory note of even date herewith for the sum of four hundred and fifteen dollars sold payable twelve months after date with interest at the rate of ten percent per annum from date have thid day bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain sell and convey unto said Forge his heirs and assigns forever all that tract or parcel of land on which we now reside containing forty nine (49) acres out of the Andres Varela eleven league ggrant an described as timbere lots no 9 of 20 acres no 10 of 20 acres and no 11 0f 9 acres the same havving been conveyed to said Wm Sikes on the 8th day of December 189 by H. J. Buddington acting by his attorney O.R. Johns. Hereby binding ourselves our heirs and legal representatives to warrant and defend the title to said land against the lawful clam or claims of any and all persons whomsoever. Witness our hands and scrowls for seals this 13th day of December AD 1873

Personally appeared before me William Sikes and Jane Sikes wife of said William Sikes who are both known to me as the persons they sign for and acknowledged the execution of the foregoing deed as their voluntary act for the purposes and consderations therein contained and the said Jane Sikes wife of the said William Sikes being by me examined privily and apart from her said husband says ths she signed the same of her own free will and accord and that she did it without any fear or compulsion on the part of her husband and that she whished not to retract the same, Intestimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and official seal at office in Springfield this 15th day of December AD 1873
