John Adam Crain Jones, Sr.

John A. C. Jones, Sr. came to Panola County probably in 1845 as he was listed in the tax records for the first time in 1846. His occupation was listed in the 1850 Census as a mechanic. He was born in North Carolina in 1782. His parent's names are unknown. He was living in Georgia by 1804 and he drew in the 1807 Georgia Land Lottery in Jackson County.
John A. C.'s wife was named Martha W. Her maiden name is unknown. She was born in VA in 1794. Where and when they married is not known. The family was living in Butler County, Alabama in 1820. According to family tradition the family had moved to Talladega County, Alabama by 1828 and they were still living there in 1840.
John A. C. Jones, Sr. bought two hundred acres of land from Robert Willis in 1853. This land was about six miles southwest of the town of Carthage. He died on March 16, 1857. Martha W. Jones followed her husband in death sometime before August 17, 1857 when the property was divided between the heirs. The graves of these two early residents have not been located.

Nancy F. Jones born in 1815. She 1st married James F. Johns in Talladega County, Alabama March 6, 1834 and 2nd married Thomas M. Weathersby on Feb 10, 1859 in Panola County, Texas.
James A.F.L. Jones was born in 1818. He married Mary Ann Weathersby in Caddo Parish, Louisiana on Aug 27, 1843. By 1852 he and his family were living in Panola County, Texas according to tax records.
Mary Jones was born in 1819 in Alabama. She married Jacob Snider on July 3, 1850 in Panola County, Texas.
Martha W. Jones was born in 1822 in Alabama and married Josiah M. Sprouse in Neshoba County, Mississippi.
John A.C. Jones, Jr. was born in 1822 in Alabama and married Sarah Jane Long in Panola County, Texas on September 2, 1858.
Narcissa Jones was born in 1824 in Alabama. She married Daniel L. Muse.
Champion Travis Traylor Jones was born in 1826 in Alabama. He married Emaline Groves on November 17, 1853 in Panola County, Texas.
Samuel Daniel Jones was born in Talladega County, Alabama on February 26, 1828. He married Sarah Jane Craig on August 10, 1850.
William Jones was born in 1830 in Alabama.
Elizabeth Jane Jones was born in 1832 in Alabama. She married Benjamin Green Riley on April 14, 1855 in Panola County, Texas.
Alabama Caroline Jones was born in Alabama in 1833. She married Andrew S. Long.
Theopholus Washington Jones was born in 1834 in Alabama.
Emanuel Micajah Jones was born in 1838 in Alabama.
