John A. C. Jones, Jr. probably came with his father to Panola County, Texas from Alabama about 1845. He paid a poll tax in 1847. He was born in Alabama in 1822. He was a farmer and was managing his father's farm in 1857 when the older Jones died. He was administrator of the estate of his parents until the property was divided among the heirs.
On September 2, 1858, John A.C. Jones, Jr. married Sarah Jane Long, the daughter of James Long and Elizabeth Riley. Sarah Jane was born in Georgia in 1842.
The Jones lived in Panola County, Texas until approximately 1876. Five of their children were born in Panola County. In 1876 the family bought a farm near the Garza Community in Denton County, Texas. John A. C. Jones, Jr. died on February 3, 1904 in Denton County at his home near the Garza Community. He was buried in the Old Hall Cemetery. This cemetery was moved when the Garza-Little Elm Reservoir was built. After the death of her husband, Sarah Jane Jones moved to Hardeman County, Texas with her son J. Wilford Jones and his family. She died at Quanah on June 4, 1912 and was buried beside her husband in Denton County.

Martha "Mat" Jones was born in Panola County in 1860. She married W.R. "Bill" Harper on July 7, 1880 in Denton County, Texas. They moved to Greer County, Oklahoma to make their home.
Lula Jones was born in Panola County in 1861 and married Elija "Lige" F. Robb on April 25, 1880 in Denton County, Texas. They lived in Denton County and Hardeman County in Texas.
Ella Jones was born in Panola County in 1863. She married A. Bearn Robb on December 29 1878 in Denton County, Texas. They made their home in Jackson County, Oklahoma.
Sarah "Sally" Jones was born in Panola County in 1867. She married J.M. "Mack" Carter on March 26, 1885 in Denton County.
James Ridley Jones was born in Panola County, probably at Pulaski, on May 16, 1870. He married Molissa Octavia Davidson on July 3, 1890 in Sherman, Grayson County, Texas. They made their home in Denton County until 1907 when they moved to Altus, Oklahoma. Then in 1909 they moved to Quanah, Hardeman County, Texas.
Henry Greene Jones was born February 12, 1874. Ht 1st married Ida McQuerter and 2nd married Mary Hayes. He lived near Altus in Jackson County, Oklahoma.
Ada Jones was born in 1876. She married J. Rosamond "Rose" Morgan on March 22, 1891 in Denton County, Texas. They made their home near Wellington, Collingsworth County, Texas.
Delbert Jones was born in 1879 and died as a young man.
J. Wilford Jones was born in 1880. He 1st married Winnie Reese, 2nd married Clara Agee and 3rd married Mrs. Lula Gilliam. He lived in Hardeman County, texas and later at Tahoka, Lynn County, Texas.
