The children of Mary Lee and Ray Baker would like family and friends to join them in honoring their parents on their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, August 18, 2001 from 2 to 4 pm at Port Caddo Baptist Church located at 3712 Karnack Highway in Marshall.

DOWNER

Ray and Agnes Downer, of Carthage, celebrated their 50th anniversary on January 5, 2001 with a luncheon hosted by Rev. and Mrs. H.J. Rhodes. Their children are Nan and Brit Thompson of Mt. Enterprise, and Marie and Freddie Jimenez, of Leander. They gave their parents money for a trip to Branson, Missouri. The happy couple had a great time on their trip.

EDGMON

Karl and Jean Edgmon of Carthage, will celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary on Dec 2, 2001. The couple married Dec 2, 1951 in Overton. Their children are Karla Cole of Beckville, Kenneth Edgmon and Keith Edgmon, both of Carthage. They also have seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

HOLLAND

Jerry and Marcy Holland, of Carthage, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on December 16, 2000 with a family luncheon at Johnny Caces Restaurant in Longview. The couple married on December 23, 1950 in Carthage. Their children are James S. Holland, of Norman, OK, Cathy Barolak, of Houston, and Stephen R. Holland, of Sand Springs, OK. Also their grandchildren are Elizabeth and Thomas Barolak.

PEAVY

Mr. and Mrs. Rob Peavy, of Beckville, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on July 21, 2001. The couple married July 21, 1951 in Toole. Their children and their spouses are Allen and Pam Peavy, and Jeff and Linda Peavy, all of Beckville, and Jamie and Jason Wall, of Diana. They have six grandchildren and one great-grandson. The couple and immediate family celebrated by having a family dinner. The family would like to congratulate the couple on this momentous occasion.

PIERCE

Mr. and Mrs. Leo Allen Pierce, of Carthage, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary June 2. They exchanged vows in 1951 at Crossroads Baptist Church in Elysian Fields.
  The couple's children are Mr. and Mrs. Fred P. Hays, of Dallas, and Mr. and Mrs. Michael J. Kruebbe, of Carthage. Their grandchildren are Matthew and Suzette Kruebbe, of Austin; Brandon and Shelley Kruebbe, Heath and Crystal Kruebbe, and Brian and Britt Kruebbe, all of Carthage.
  They have a nine month old great-granddaughter, Jewell Hope Kruebbe, who is the first girl born into the family in 43 years. They are also joyfully awaiting the arrival of their first great-grandson, Caleb Michael, who is expected in July.
  Mr. and Mrs. Pierce will be celebrating this special occasion with a trip to Branson, MO. Their family added, "So faith, hope, love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love, I Corinthians 13:13 RSVP. With great respect and admiration your family wishes you a blessed and happy golden anniversary."

SOAPE

Joe and Helen Soape will celebrate 50 years of marriage on Saturday, August 4, 2001. The former Helen Musick of Kingsport, Tenn., was joined in marriage to Joe Lynn Soape of Carthage at the First Baptist Church in Kingsport in 1951. The couple soon moved to Longview, where Texas Eastman employed Joe as a chemist until his retirement. Helen has enjoyed her role as a wife and mother. Through the years, they have been active in First Baptist Church, where Joe serves as a deacon. Since retirement, the couple has traveled extensively, especially with the Volunteer Christian Builders on mission trips. They also enjoy the fellowship of many special friends.
  God blessed Joe and Helen with three children and six grandchildren. Daughter Lynda is married to Keith Keeling and lives in Carthage. They have two children, Andy and Sarah. Their son, Larry, and his wife, Kathleen, reside in New Braunfels with three children, Joel, Wallis, and Samuel. Daughter Leslie and her husband, Danny Russell, live in San Antonio with their daughter, Jennifer.

STILLWELL

Edd and Alice Stillwell of the Old Center Community in Carthage, Celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on Dec 8, 2001. The couple were married on Dec 8, 1951 in Chinook, Montana. Their made their home in Carthage in 1979. The couple has one son Terry Stillwell of Pablo, Montana. They have three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

YOUNG

James K. and Corinne Young are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. James married Corinne Cherry on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, 1951, at the home of Joe and Katherine Gray in Tatum. The Rev. John R. Campbell officiated.
  James and Corinne have one daughter and son-in-law Catherine and Neal Johnson of Suffolk VA. They have two grand daughters Alex and Angela Johnson also of Suffolk.
  James now retired from an Exxon dealership, enjoys gardening. Corinne, a retired Tatum Independent School District teacher, enjoys reading and traveling. James and Corinne are members of the First Baptist Church of Tatum.
