Greenwood B Cemetery,
7 Feb 1919,"This cemetery is located in the northeast quadrant
of Red River County, Texas. GPS COORDINATES: Datum WGS84: 33
Deg 49.012N, 94 Deg 59.636W, El 406 ft. From Hwy 37 N and the
intersection with FM 1159, take FM 1159 east for about 4 miles
to the second LARGE curve to the east. Greenwood Community was
on the right and you are within a 1 mile walk to the cemetery
to the northwest. As this is private property, please observe
the country niceties and get permission before attempting to
find this cemetery. From deed records this is located on the
original Slingland survey and is located about 800 varas north
of the southeast corner of the survey. There is a deed dated
25 Oct 1907 and filed for record in Book CH 59 page 570 on 25
Oct 1907 for 1 acre of the William Slingland Survey from Henry
Bradford to Greenwood Missionary Baptist Church. The burials
shown here are all from funeral home books or taken from existing
markers on the site. The earliest documented burial is that of
Preston Snell who died on 7 Feb 1919. We visited the site on
20 Feb 2004 and took the GPS readings. While we were there we
took pictures and recorded the burials."
