Turner B Cemetery, 1
Jul 1910,"This cemetery is located in the southwest quadrant
of Red River County, Texas. GPS COORDINATES: Datum WGS84: 33
Deg 33.359N, 95 Deg 13.488W. This is not actually a separate
cemetery but was created to be able to print all black burials
in the county. From the founding of this cemetery in 1839, it
has been used by both races and is to this time. It is under
one fence but burials have been separate for this time period
with all black burials east of the center dividing road. Maintenance
is the same for both sides of the cemetery and both have old
as well as new markers. The oldest marked black burial is that
of Nina Breedlove who died on 1 Jul 1910. This was surveyed by
Lawrence and Sue Dale on a wet 2 Dec 1998. This cemetery was
revisited on 20 Jan 2003 to take the GPS Coordinates. We also
did a re walk of the cemetery on 20 Dec 2003 adding new burials
and noting marker changes."
