Red River County   Whitfield Cemetery, 21 Mar 1872,"This cemetery is located
in the southwest quadrant of Red River County, Texas. GPS COORDINATES:
Datum WGS84: 33 Deg 38.643N, 95 Deg 16.235W. This cemetery is
another of the many lost or abandoned family cemeteries in RRCo
TX. There are only two marked graves here but there is a third
implied. This cemetery is located on FM 410 south of Detroit
about one mile on PRIVATE property. There is no road to it so
please do not try to go to the location. At present, September
1998, it is inside a cow pasture and under a large shade tree
and the cows are doing damage to the vaults. This was surveyed
by Lawrence and Sue Dale on a HOT 5 Sep 1998. There was a revisit
on 20 Jan 2003 to take the GPS Coordinates. We were on the site
again on 23 Jan 2004 and after some probing uncovered the marker
for the wife, Sarah C. Whitfield."
