Youngs Chapel Cemetery,
1 May 1889","This cemetery is located in the northwest
quadrant of Red River County, Texas. GPS COORDINATES: Datum WGS84:
33 Deg 43.036N, 95 Deg 07.553W. Take Hwy 37 from Clarksville
north to Dimple and turn west onto FM 2120 for about 5 miles.
The cemetery is on the north or right. A deed dated 30 Aug 1902
and filed for record in Book CH 46 page 297 conveyed land from
G. W. and M. A. Young to Charles Smith, D. C. Young and J. H.
Turner, trustees, land to be used for a schoolhouse with church
and burial ground. A deed dated 17 Oct 1923 and filed for record
on 17 Oct 1923 in Book CH Vol 109 Page 140 conveyed 1 acre of
the P. D. Midkiff survey 9 miles northwest of Clarksville from
W. C. Lay et ux to Youngs Chapel School District 79. The oldest
marked burial is that of Ethney J. Sappington who died 1 May
1889. This cemetery was surveyed by Lawrence and Sue Dale on
17 February 1997. We visited the site again on 3 Jan 2004 and
took the GPS readings. We also did a re walk of the cemetery
adding new burials and noting marker changes."
