TRIBUTE OF RESPECT

Elkhorn Lodge #402

Whereas it has pleased the Supreme Ruler of the Universe to call from our midst our beloved and exemplary brother, Nelson B Hutchinson Sr., who departed this life Nov 4, 1885, aged about 72 years, and as old and respected citizen of the county; and whereas, we bow in humble submission to the will of our Heavenly Father and part with our brother with deep regret; therefore be it resolved; That in the death of Brother Hutchinson our Lodge has sustained a loss irreparable, but the Celestial Lodge above has only gained one who we believe well fitted for membership there, where the Supreme Master reigns forever. Resolved; That a copy of these resolutions be spread on the minutes of our Lodge and a copy of the same be furnished the deceased and that a copy of these resolutions be sent to the Clarksville Times and Standard for publication. Resolved; That our Lodge be draped in mourning, and that the members wear the usual badge for 30 days.

N B Hutchinson, to whose memory the Grange pays a tribute of respect, was an old and valued citizen, of most unexceptional deportment and pure life. The removal of every man is a serious loss to his neighborhood, the State, and especially to the rising generation, to whose instruction the daily conduct of such a man is a moral and social lesson.
