Red River Dragons

Organization of the "Red River Dragons" the second company of Red River County volunteers seeking service in the Southern Cause, was perfected on June 15, 1861, eight days after organization of "The Prairie Blues," a company of thirty seven men, with Charles S. Reece,, Captain, on Saturday, June 8, 1862. Early day records fail to give the exact location of the meeting, which resulted in organization of the "Red River Dragons," but familiarity of names indicates that the meeting was held in Clarksville
