Vera Jessup

From the March 17, 2006 issue of the Terrell County News-Leader, page 2:

Eldorado - Graveside services week last week at Eldorado Cemetery here for Vera Jessup, 94, a long-time Sanderson second-grade school teacher who died March 6, 2006, at an Abilene nursing center.

She was born on June 12, 1911, in Eldorado to Ovid Wade and Myrtle Bray Wade.

Vera received her degree from Sul Ross State University and became a school teacher.

She married Clarence Shott Jessup on July 2, 1939, in Kerrville.

While Clarence spent his time ranching, Vera worked as a second-grade teacher nd, except for a year in Fort Stockton, spent her teaching career in Terrell County before retiring in 1969. Some long-time Sanderson residents say she taught second grade to "everyone in town." She was a Presbyterian.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband on April 17, 1992.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews and her long-time friends, Bill and Alvah Jean Hilton.
