NAME BIRTH DEATH ATTACHED COMMENTS
Dixon, Sarah 'Sallie' J.  Nov 1871 Feb 1927
w/o Louis/Lewis Dixon (1870-1941), brother to W L Dickson; Sallie & Louis married  Jul 17, 1890 in Grimes Co., Texas.  On the marriage certificate, his name was spelled Louis Dickson. Sallie's full name was shown as Sarah J. Scott. 1900 Census, surname is Dickson. On his death certificate his name is spelled Lewis Dixon.  Place of burial shown on Lewis' death certificate is 'State Orphan Place'.   The Children of Sallie and Lewis are, as follows:  1-Queen (1890-?); 2-Cassie (1892-?);   Cassie married a Ford, given name unknown.  3-Andrew (1903-1976), Farmer; 4-Richard Henry (1906-1980), minister.  Richard H, as the nephew of W L Dickson,  was the Master of Ceremonies for the unveiling of the Historical Marker for the Orphanage.
Dixon, Lewis abt 1869 Mar 16, 1941 death cert 1st:  Sarah 'Sallie' J Scott, m Jul 17, 1890 in Grimes County, Texas.  2nd: Eva Willis, m 1936 in Upshur County, Texas. Lewis was a brother to W L Dickson, the founder of the Dickson Colored Orphanage in Gilmer, Texas.  Lewis' given name is spelled either Lewis or Louis in numerous places.  The surname is also spelled numerous ways, such as Dixon, Dixson and Dickson. Lewis and Sallie had four children, one of whom became a Minister of the Gospel.  In the 1920 census their children have all left home but they have three of their grandchildren living with them - Marvin/Martin Ford; Sallie L Ford; Randolph Ford.  Lewis Dixon is entered as being buried in this cemetery due to two facts:  1.  On the death certificate block for place of burial, it states the following...'State Colored Place'.  So believe he is buried next to Sallie, his first wife, in the Dickson Orphanage Cemetery.  2. A burial for him at another place cannot be found.  It should be noted that at one time all the brothers decided on one main spelling - Dixon; however, W L could not do that as he had a large amount of legal papers pertaining to the Orphanage that were signed W L Dickson.  Therefore, W L was the only one of the brothers using the spelling Dickson, same as the Orphanage, which he founded.
Ford, Cassey 1882 Jun 30, 1917 death cert Married - given name of spouse unknown; Believe she is buried here beside her parents; d/o Lewis Dixon & Sallie Scott. Cassey (spelling of given name as on the death certificate record; however, in other records it is spelled as Casey & Cassie).  She was born in Grimes Co., Texas. She had three children - Martin, Sallie & Randolph.  These children were in the household of Lewis & Sallie in 1920, listed as grandchildren.
Miller, William abt 1838 Apr 3, 1913 death cert h/o Nancy (maiden name unknown); born in Danville, Kentucky; s/o George & Rhoda Miller
