Photo Description Picture
Davis Home - This house in Gilmer was built by Horace Vernon Davis, Mayor of Gilmer for 3 or 4 terms, at the intersection of Butler and Trinity Streets.  Was sold to his brother, Henry Lee Davis b. 1896, owner of Davis Dry Goods,  Maberry Grocery, and  Gilmer Wholesale Grocery for 70 yrs.  Henry Lee and Violet Davis lived in this house when their two sons were born, i.e.:  Richard b.1924 and Thomas b. 1929.  Housing in the area was so scarce during the Kilgore oil boom that part of the house was renovated to accommodate boarders working in Kilgore.  Boarders could  also stay in the garage apartment behind the house.  This  picture is not dated; however, the snow and icicles should be a clue!  Thanks to Jeanne Truly Davis for this wonderful picture.
Rhonesboro Community - This is a LARGE picture and has been left large so that you might able to identify some of the people in the photo. This picture is on ahard cardboard background; It is in excellent condition; the name Satterwhite appears on the building to the right. Thanks to Karen Warren for sending in this wonderful picture
