W. E. McKain of Bowie was in the city today en route to Munday to visit relatives.

Mrs.  Walter  Tyson  of  Dalhart  arrived  here  today  for a visit with Dr. L. C. Tyson
and family.

Mrs.  J.  L.  Lea,  Jr.  left  this  morning  for  Dallas  to  visit  her mother, who is
reported quite sick.

Mrs.  George  L.  Moore  is  quite  sick  at  her home at the corner of Lamar avenue and
Eighth street.

Marshall  Barwise  of  Electra, who has been visiting relatives in this city returned to
his home this afternoon.

D.  F.  Walker of Moulton, Texas, arrived in the city this afternoon and is the guest of
his brother, Alf. Walker, and other relatives.

Miss  May  Boynton,  who  has  been  teaching school at Seymour, passed through the city
today en route to her home at Huntsville.

T.  F.  McClure,  State  cattle inspector with headquarters at Stamford, was in the city
today on his return from a business trip to Henrietta.

Mr.  and  Mrs. S. T. Scaling of Dundee, who have been visiting Dr. and Mrs. R. L. Miller
of this city, returned to their home yesterday.

J.  D.  Bellah,  a  prominent  business  man  of St. Jo, Texas, was in the city today on
his return home from a business trip to Frederick, Oklahoma.

E.  A.  Cox  of  the  firm  of Cox & Snyder, left this afternoon for Electra, where they
are  erecting  a  handsome  two-story  building  for  the  bank  of Electra, also a neat
six-room cottage for Commissioner E. A. Dale.

Mr.  J.  N.  Bryan of Thornberry was in the city today, accompanied by Mrs. Lucie Newton
and  family,  who  were  en  route to their home at Lyra, Texas. Mrs. Newton is a sister
of Mrs. Bryan, whom she has been visiting for the past two weeks.

J.  A.  K???  president  of the City National bank of this city, is transacting business
in New York. He is expected home the last of this week.

Mrs.  J.  H.  McCauley  is  quite  sick  at  her  home,  corner  of  Indiana  avenue and
Twelfth street.

At  Channing  yesterday, Charles McCune of Thurber, Texas accidentally shot himself with
a Winchester rifle and died instantly.

J. M. Hatfield, one of Clay county's prosperous farmers, was here today on business.

George  B.  Ansell,  a  prominent  stockman  and  farmer  from  Electra,  was here today
on business.

Mrs.  D.  P. Woodward left yesterday for Dallas, where she will visit with friends for a
few days.

Mr.  and  Mrs.  Clarence  Bannard  of Kell City, Oklahoma were among the visitors in the
Falls today.

H.  Cranmer  of  the  firm  of  Brown  &  Cranmer  Lumber  Company,  of  this  city,  is
transacting business in Fort Worth.

J.  J.  Herndon  of  Fuida,  Texas,  was  in  the  city  today on his return home from a
business trip to Addington, Oklahoma.

J.  G.  Witherspoon,  a prominent citizen of Quanah, was in the city today on his return
home from a business trip to Fort Worth.

Mr.  and  Mrs.  G.  G.  Kemp  of  Iowa  Park who have been the guests of Mr. and Mrs. W.
F. Elliott, of this city, returned to their home this afternoon.

Miss  Mattie  Kerr  of  Waurika,  Oklahoma,  who has been visiting her daughter, Mrs. J.
G. Rohatch, and son, W. H. Calloway of this city, left for her home this afternoon.

Mrs.  W.  L.  Yauger  of  Iowa  Park  was in the city today. She was accompanied home by
her  daughter,  Mrs.  Walter Tyson of Dalhart, who has been visiting Dr. L. C. Tyson and
family.

Mesrs.  J.  W.  Hopper  and E. E. Stanley, two young business men of Bardwell, Kentucky,
who  have  been  visiting  Mr. and Mrs. B. B. Mask, left this afternoon on a prospecting
tour to Amarillo and Roswell, New Mexico.

Mrs.  M.  M.  Adiekes  is  having  two  neat  six-room cottages erected on the corner of
Twelfth street and Scott avenue.

Bismark  Houssels,  a  prominent  business  man of Vernon, was among the visitors in the
city today.

G.  W.  Reeves  of  Chattanooga, Oklahoma, was in the city today en route to Whitewright
to visit relatives.

Mrs.  Robert  Robertson and children left this afternoon for Isadore, Oklahoma, to visit
Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Huggins.

J.  H.  Mahaffie,  a  popular  knight  of the grip, with headquarters in this city, made
a business trip to Archer City this afternoon.

Mrs.  M.  J.  Barnes  of Dundee, who has been in the sanitarium here for the past month,
left yesterday for her home, greatly improved in health.

Miss  Edna  Sentell  of  Kell  City,  Oklahoma,  who  has been visiting her friend, Miss
Bessie Gullahorn of this city, left for her home this afternoon.

Mrs.  Tom  Matthews  and  daughter,  Miss Tommie, of Archer City, were in the city today
on their return from Harrold, where they had been visiting relatives.

Miss  Jennie  Huggins,  who  is  attending  the  St.  Mary's  academy of this city, left
this afternoon for Isadore, Oklahoma, to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Huggins.

Judge  R. E. Hendry, who has been confined to his home on Scott avenue for about a month
on  account  of  illness,  is  now very much improved and expects to be out again within
a few days.

S.  H.  Apple  and his little daughter left this afternoon for Iowa Park to spend Sunday
with Mr. Apple's parents.

J.  R.  Parkey, a prominent stockman and farmer from Dundee, was transacting business in
the city today.

J.  F.  Preston,  one  of  the  leading citizens of Halsell, Texas is shaking hands with
friends here today.

G.  R.  Decker,  one  of  the  progressive farmers from the Bowman neighborhood was here
today on business.

Rev.    J.  W.  Morton  left  this  afternoon  for  Electra,  where  he  will  fill  his
regular appointment there tomorrow.

Mr.  and  Mrs.  I.  H.  Roberts  are  now occupying their new home, corner of Fourteenth
street and Lamar avenue.

Misses  Carrie  Kell  and  Flora  Kemp  who  are attending St. Mary's college at Dallas,
came home yesterday for a visit to their parents.

Mrs.  M.  E. Williams of Clarendon, who has been visiting her sons, Messrs. J. S. and C.
M. Doke and families of this city, left for home this afternoon.

Dr.  D.  T.  Summerville,  presiding  elder  of  the  Methodist Episcopal church for the
Fort Worth district, went to Thornberry today to hold quarterly conference at 3:30 p.m.

Mr.  J.  H.  Sevenson  and  family,  who have been residents of Burkburnett for the past
two years,  were  in  the  city today en route to Fruita, Colorado, where they will make
their future home.

Federal  Judge  Meek,  whose  home  is  in Dallas, stopped off between trains in Wichita
Falls today  while en route from Abilene to Amarilllo, where he goes to organize the new
federal court.

Mr.  and  Mrs. J. A. Mapes have returned from Springfield, Missouri, where they had been
to pay  the  last sad rites to Mrs. Mapes' brother, Mr. Jonn H. Kunkel, who died in that
city recently.

Mr.  and  Mrs.  Lee  Clark  and  children  are  in Oklahoma City, where the children are
being  treated  for ear and nasal trouble by Mrs. C's brother-in-law, a specialist. Miss
Ellis is in charge of the school - Iowa Park Register.

Mr.  J.  Lee Jackson, of the Panhandle Implement Company of this city, left this morning
for  Dallas  to  meet  his  wife, who has been visiting relatives in Southern, Texas for
the past month. They will visit friend in Dallas before returning home.

L.  M.  Guggenheim  of  St.  Louis,  owner  of  the  Guggenheim  block  at the corner of
Indiana  avenue  and  Seventh  street and other property in this city, arrived yesterday
afternoon  to  remain  here  to look after his property interest here. Mr. Guggenheim is
the  owner  of  the  lot  adjoining  the  Fashion  livery stable on the north and states
that if he can make satisfactory  arrangements with the owners of the livery stable lot,
he will at once erect a substantial two story business house on his lot.

Mrs.  M.  J.  Talbot  of  Petrolia  is  in the city, the guest of her sister, Mrs. W. E.

John G. Gillett has returned from Weatherford, where he has been visiting his family.

Miss  Johnnie  Arnold,  one  of  the teachers in the public schools at Iowa Park, was in
the city yesterday.

Linn  Boyd,  bookkeeper  for  the  Wichita  Falls  Water  and  Light  Company  left this
afternoon for Amarillo to visit his brother, Craig Boyd.

Miss  Julia  Williams  has  returned  after  a visit of several months with relatives at
Tampico and other points in Mexico.

Walt  Smith,  secretary  of  the Chamber of Commerce of this city, returned this morning
from a visit with his family at Kell City, Oklahoma.

Matt  Noble  of  San  Augustine,  Texas, who has been the guest of his brother, Mayor T.
B. Noble, left this afternoon on a prospecting trip to Denning, New Mexico.

Messrs.  Craig  Boyd  and  L.  B.  Baker,  two  young  business men of Amarillo who have
been visiting relatives and friends in this city, left for their homes this afternoon.

Miss  Pick  Byer, who is attending the St. Mary's Academy in this city spent Sunday with
her parents at Kell City, Oklahoma, returning to her studies this morning.

Mrs.     J.  L.  McConkey  left  this  afternoon  for  Rule,  Texas  in  response  to  a
telegram  announcing  the  serious  illness  of her sister, Mrs. Harvey, wife of Rev. J.
W. Harvey of that city.

Ed  Perry,  with  the  Wichita  Mill  and  Elevator  Company of this city, returned this
morning  from  Kell  City,  Oklahoma,  where  he  had been visiting his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. W. K. Perry.

Ford  Allbrittan returned a few days ago from Mt. Pleasant, Texas where he has completed
a  thorough  literary  course.  He  will probably remain here during the summer and next
fall will go to Austin to complete his education.

Mr.  H.  B.  Patterson  left  yesterday  for  Fort  Worth  and  brought back with him to
Henrietta Mrs.  Patterson,  who  will visit there a few days before coming on to Wichita
Falls. Mrs. Patterson has been in a Fort Worth sanitarium for the past month or more.

The  friends  of  Mr.  R.  G.  Aten,  formerly  of  this  city, but now a businessman of
Amarillo  will  no  doubt be surprised to learn that he was married at Waco yesterday to
Miss  Bessie  West,  a  charming  young lady of that city. Mr. Aten and his bride passed
through  the  city today en route to Amarillo, a place they will make their future home.
He  had  many  friends  in  Wichita  Falls,  who, in ??? with the ??? for them a life of
laughter and happiness.

Mrs. Johnnie Belcher of Henrietta is the guest of Miss Connie Wills.

Mr.  and  Mrs.  Jim  Taylor  of  Petrolia  were  among  those who attended the picnic at
Lake Wichita today.

Charley  Wyman,  formerly  a citizen of Wichita Falls, but now of Parsons, Kansas, is in
the city today.

O.  H. Maricle, one of the leading citizens of Kell City, Okla. Was transacting business
in the city today.

Mr.  J.  H.  Huggins,  of  Isodor,  Okla.,  was  in  the  city today and took in the Odd
Fellows' picnic at Lake Wichita.

Judge  S.  H.  Hodges  of  Frederick,  Oklahoma,  is in the city meeting his friends and
looking after business matters.

Mrs.  J.  R.  Jordan  is  in  Frederick,  Oklahoma, in response to a telegram announcing
the serious illness of her mother.

Mr.  and  Mrs.  Frank  Robinson,  former  residents  of  Wichita  Falls, but now located
at Childress are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clark Fowler.

E.  M.  Perkins,  cashier  of  the  Continental  Bank  and  Trust  Company  of Petrolia,
accompanied  by  his  brother,  H.  W.  Perkins,  who  is  depot  agent  for the Wichita
Valley, took in the picnic at Lake Wichita today.

W.  E. Dunnington of Henryetta, Oklahoma, arrived in the city today on his way to Austin
to  visit  his  mother, Mrs. John Dunnington, and other relatives. Willis lived here ten
years ago and has many friends in Wichita Falls who will be glad to meet him again.

P.  C.  Maricle  came down from Childress today to attend the Odd Fellows' picnic and to
look  after  business matters here. Mr. Maricle reports that good progress is being made
with  the  new  ice  and  light  plants  and  that  they  have an outlook for a splendid
patronage.  Childress  is  growing  at  a wonderful pace and many new homes are going up
there.

Judge  S.  H.  Hodges  of  Frederick,  Oklahoma, came over yesterday to do some shopping
for Mrs. Hodges. He returned this afternoon.

Miss  Suzie  Wright,  an  attractive young lady from Byers, Texas, who has been visiting
her sister, Mrs. W. S. Mhoon of this city, returned to her home this afternoon.

Ira  Dodge,  stenographer  for  Attorneys Spoonts, Thompson & Barwise of Fort Worth, who
has  been  visiting  his  parents,  Mr.  and  Mrs. J. S. Dodge of this city, returned to
that city today.

Rev.  John  R.  Huettel,  pastor  of  the  Sacred  Heart  church  of Abilene, spent part
of yesterday and today in this city. He was on his way from Fort Worth to Abilene. While
here he was the guest of Rev. J. Dolley.

Mr.  and  Mrs.  J.  Lee  Jackson  returned today from a visit with relatives and friends

M.  Staude,  a  popular hardware man of Fort Worth, was in the city calling on his trade
and meeting friends today.

Messrs.  J.  N.  Bryan  and  F.  M.  Tucker,  two  well  to  do farmers from Thornberry,

R.  E.  Huff,  president  of  the  First National bank of this city, left this afternoon
for Frederick, Oklahoma, on business.

W.  A.  McSpadden  of  Cisco was in the city today on his way home from Dallas, where he
had been water bound for the past six days.

Constable  J.  E.  Parker  of  Petrolia  was  in  the  city  today  on  his  return from
Henrietta, where he had been on official business.

Henry  Wigham  of  Magina,  Oklahoma,  who has been visiting his brother, George Wigham,
and family of this city, left for home this afternoon.

Mr.    C.  Dean,  a  prominent  stockman  and  farmer  of  Petrolia,  was  in  the  city
today transacting business and shaking hands with friends.

W.  E.  Rock,  Jr.  of  the firm of Rock & Duke, left this afternoon for Cotalla, Texas,
to visit his parents and other relatives. He was accompanied by his friend, W. M. Dyson.

Rev.  J.  L.  Hawkins, pastor of the Baptist church at Duncan, Oklahoma and his brother,
G.  S.  Hawkins  of  Frederick,  Oklahoma  were here today inspecting the Baptist church
building.  The  congregation of Mr. Hawkins church in Duncan are planning to erect a new
church and he came here to look over the church to obtain ideas for the new church.

Mr.  H.  G.  Kartenbrock  left this afternoon on a business and pleasure trip to his old
home at Wentzville, Mo.

Messrs.  J.  H.  Kayhorn  and  J.  D.  Smyth,  two  young  business  men of Dundee, were
transacting business here today.

Miss  Bertie  Gracey,  of  Petrolia,  who  has  been  visiting Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Joyce,
returned to her home this afternoon.

Mrs.  Dan  Hardy,  accompanied  by  her  daughter,  Miss  Bonnie, left this afternoon to
visit Mrs. T. L. Rowlett, Mrs. Hardy's sister.

Mr.  and Mrs. L. C. Garvey and daughter, Miss Dana, returned to Archer City today, after
a visit with John Young and family.

W.  H.  Pickett  returned this morning from his old home at Roanoke, Texas, where he had
been visiting with relatives and friends.

R.  F.  Barkley,  agent for the Wichita Falls and Southern railway company at Olney, was
in the city today shaking hands with friends.

Mrs.  C.  Rexford  has  returned  from Phoenix, Arizona, where she had been spending the
winter with her son, True Farmer, and family.

J.  C.  Ferguson,  a  prominent  business  man  of  Quanah, was in the city today on his
return from Gainesville, where he had been looking after business matters.

J.  L.  Stearns  also  has  been  visiting  his  mother,  Mrs. H. E. Stearns, during her
recent  sickness,  left  last  night  for  Colekasha,  Oklahoma, where he is employed as
one of the dispatchers in the Rock Island office.

John  Mackeehney  of  Aldleta  and  Dr.  L Mackeehney of San Augustine, stopped off here
today  for  a  visit  of  several  hours  with their cousin, T. B. Noble, while en route
from Fort Worth to Abilene.

J.  B.  Simpson,  Phy.  Taylor  and  J.  S.  Woods  of  Eschiti  were  in the city today
conferring  with the officers of the Wichita Falls and Northwestern railway concerning a
compromise on the depot matter.

Mrs.  H.  P.  Hutchins,  who  arrived  here  a  few  days ago from Pasadena, California,
was  operated  on  at  the  Wichita  Falls Sanitarium for appendicitis this morning. The

H.  L.  Hollister,  the  popular  agent  for  the Wichita Falls and Northwestern railway
company at Frederick, Oklahoma, was transacting business here today.

Mesdames  George  Braneniant  and  Mae Behau of Clinton, Iowa, were in the city today en
route to Mabel, Texas, to visit their sister, Mrs. P. F. Keenan.

J.  G.  Coleman of Roswell, New Mexico, who has been visiting his brother, W. W. Coleman
of this city, left this afternoon for Gainesville to visit relatives.

E.  M. Rogers, manager for the Southwestern Telephone Company, left for Dallas yesterday
to see his wife, who is taking treatment with a specialist there.

Mr.  J.  M.  Bland  returned  last  night  from  Bellevue,  where  he had been attending
the district conference of the M. E. Church South. He reports a splendid meeting.

C.  A.  Allingham  of  Harrold,  vice president of the First National Bank of this city,
was  here  today  on  his  return  from a three weeks visit to his old home at Monmouth,
Illinois.

Miss  Esther  Gorsline,  who  has  been  attending  the  College of Music at Cincinnati,

Mrs.  George  W.  Eagle  left  this  afternoon  for  Statesville,  North Carolina, on an
extended visit to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Murdock.

Bates  Thatcher,  a  prominent  business  man  of  Dallas,  is  in the city visiting his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. H. Thatcher, and his brother, T. C. Thatcher and family.

Harry  Rosenstein,  formerly  with  the  Wichita  Mill  and  Elevator  Company  but  now
of Gainesville,  in  the  employ of the Whaley Mill and Elevator Company spent yesterday
with friends in this city.

Mr.  and  Mrs.  James  Bradford  left  this  morning  for Henrietta, where Mrs. Bradford
will  visit  her  friend,  Mrs. C. W. Russell. Mr. Bradford will go to Denison to attend
district court in the interest of the Fort Worth and Denver Railway company.

Mr.  and  Mrs.  T.  Horace  Cardin  will  leave  on  or about May 2nd for Fort Smith and
other  Arkansas  points  for  a  two  months' visit to relative and friends. Mrs. Cardin
will remain for the summer, visiting J. H. Cardin and family in Fort Smith.

O.  D.  Green,  formerly  cashier  at  the  Katy  depot,  and  his  bride, formerly Miss
Josephine  Hand,  arrived last night from San Antonio to spend several days with friends
and relatives here.  They  were married last Monday at Corpus Christi, where the bride's
parents are now living.  After  the  first  of May they will be at home at Nocona, where
Mr. Green will be agent for the Katy.

Mrs.  A.  D.  Matheny  left  yesterday  morning  for  Washington,  Texas,  to  visit her
sisters,  Mrs.  A.  Layton  and Miss Alvilla Webb for a few days. From there she will go
to  Roswell,  New Mexico to join Mr. Matheny, who preceded her several months ago, which
place  they  will  reside in future. Mr. and Mrs. Matheny have been residents of Wichita
Falls  for  the  past twenty-four years, and their friends here wish for them prosperity
and happiness in their new home.

Miss  Jennie  Robertson  of  Farwell,  Texas,  who  is a student of the Kidd-Key college

Mesdames  J.  T.  A.  Fleming,  J.  T.  Roberts, S. H. Burnsides and Miss Lucille Brooks
left  this  afternoon  for  Vernon to attend the District Woman's Federation Club, which
convenes in that city today.

Mrs.  D.  W.  Reeves  and  B.  F.  Morrow  were  united  in  marriage at the court house
yesterday   afternoon  by  Judge  Yeager.  The  couple  are  said  to  be  residents  of
Clay county and apparently were anxious to keep the wedding a secret.

Lewis  Fonville,  who  has  been  the  guest  of his brother A. S. Fonville, the jeweler
left today  for  his  home at Corona, New Mexico. Upon leaving his brother presented him
with a handsome  solid  gold  signet  ring  made right here in Wichita Falls in the shop
recently       fitted  up  by  Mr.  Fonville.  The  ring  was  of  exceptional  artistic
design and was a production that any man might be proud to possess.

Mrs.  P.  E.  Kerr  of  Chillicothe,  who has been visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.
V. Crowell, near this city, returned this afternoon. Mrs. Kerr informed a Times man that
they  would  move  to  Enid,  Oklahoma  this week, where they will reside in future. Mr.
Kerr  is  a  traveling  salesman  for  Padgitt Bros. of Dallas, and having been assigned
new  territory,  necessitated  their  move  to Enid. Mr. and Mrs. Kerr have many friends
here who wish them success in their new home.

Linn  Boyd  will  leave  tomorrow  for  Amarillo,  where  he  will engage in the grocery
business  with  his  brother,  Craig  Boyd.  W.  A.  Thomson  will  succeed  Mr. Boyd as
bookkeeper for the Wichita Falls Water and Light Company.

Mr.    Stanniforth,  the  Gainesville  man  who  is  at  the  head  of  the  ????  stock
company organized  here  to  build  and  operate  a brick plant, is now inspecting brick
plants  in  Kansas  and  other  States preliminary to placing an order for the equipment
of  the  plant  here.  He  will be gone about fifteen days and upon his return the order
for the machinery will be placed and preliminary work begun at the site of the kilns.

Porter  McFalls,  who  is  working with a surveying corps in the coal fields near Olney,
was visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. G. McFalls, in this city today.

The  little  son  of  Tad  Wilson  of  Holliday  left  the Wichita Falls sanitarium this
morning, after a surgical operation several days ago.

this city, returned to her home this afternoon.

W.  Y.  McCune,  auditor  for  the  Wichita Valley railway company, with headquarters in

Mrs.  Homer  McGregor  of  Petrolia, who has been visiting Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Simpson of
this city, returned to her home this afternoon.

J.  S.  Ricks,  sheriff  of  Grayson  county,  was  here  today  in  search of the three
prisoners who broke jail at Sherman on the night of April 27th.

Mr.  and  Mrs.  O.  D.  Green,  after a visit of several days with relatives and friends
here, left this afternoon for Nocona, where they will make their home.

Charles  Tipton,  formerly  stenographer  for  the  J.  P. Bryan Land Company here, left
this  afternoon  for  Fort  Worth,  having  accepted a similar position in a real estate
office  in  that city. Mr. Bryan also goes to Fort Worth and the J. P. Bryan land office
in this city is closed.

W. W. Jackson left this afternoon for Eschiti, Oklahoma on business.

Miss     Minnie  Allen  of  the  Allendale  community  will  leave  this  afternoon  for
Rockey, Oklahoma, for a visit with relatives.

Postmaster  Otis  T.  Bacon  was able to be down at the post office this morning for the
first  time  in  several  weeks, having been laid up with a severe attack of rheumatism.
He  is  now  much  better  and  with  the  more favorable weather hopes soon to be fully
recovered.

W.  E.  Stanley and J. E. Crowley, two steeple jack and smoke stack workers are painting
the  smokestack  at  the  light company's plant and the water tower this week. The smoke
shaft is about 100 feet high and the top of the water tower is nearly 120 feet above the
ground.

Mrs.  J.  W.  WALKUP  and  children  returned  home today from Electra and Beaver Creek,
where they have been visiting for the past month. They were accompanied by Mrs. WALKUP'S
sister, Mrs.  J.  R. ELLIOTT, and her children, Miss LENA of Beaver Creek also came with
them. She will be with her uncle's family for a month or more.

Mrs.  B.  J.  BEAN and son will leave tomorrow for a visit to relatives in Michigan. Mr.

years,  left  this  afternoon  for  Portland, Oregon, at which place they will reside in
future.

Mr.  and  Mrs.  J.  P.  HOPKINS  and  their  little  niece, KATIE HOPKINS, of Thornberry
left  yesterday  to  visit  Mr. HOPKINS father and family for several weeks at Marshall,
Oklahoma.

Prof.  T.  L.  TOLEN  of Port Arthur, who is to be the new superintendent of the Wichita
Falls  schools,  is  now  in  the city preparing for his work and making arrangements to
move his family to this city.

Miss  IELA  MAY  FITIS  of  Gainesville,  who  has  been  visiting  friends  at Seymour,
passed  through the city this afternoon. She is connected with the Hesperian in her home
town, and while here made the Times office a pleasant visit.

DON  MCCAULEY  went  down  to  Fort  Worth  last  night  and will come back through this

Mr.  H.  F.  DOWDY  of  Charlie,  Texas  was  in  the city today on his return from Fort
Worth, where he had been to have an operation performed on his son for appendicitis.

A.  J.  BUSH  will  leave  today  for  Burkburnett,  where he goes to hold a meeting. He
will return for Sunday services in his own church.

Mrs.  S.  A.  DENISON  of  Henrietta,  who has been visiting her son, F. H. DENISON, and
family, of this city, returned home this afternoon.

J.  C.  WIGHAM,  one  of the clerks in the post office left this morning for a two weeks
visit with relatives in Mangum, and Rush Springs, Oklahoma.

Mr.  and  Mrs.  H.  A.  FAIRCHILD  and  little  daughter,  ROBERTA,  left this afternoon
for Haskell, where they expect to visit with friends for a week or more.

J.  S.  PAYNE  left  this  afternoon  for  Gainesville,  where  he  will  play  with the
Gainesville band during the old soldiers reunion, which convenes in that city tomorrow.

Miss  MARBLE MATHENY of Roswell, New Mexico, who has been visiting relatives and friends
in  this  city,  left  this morning for Washburn, Texas, where she will spend a few days
with her aunt, Mrs. A. CAYTON, before returning home.

HOMER MCGREGOR, a prominent merchant from Petrolia, was here on business today.

Mr. and Mrs. ALVA ALBRIGHT of Dundee were among the local visitors in the city today.

J.  S. SMITH, a business man of Fort Worth, is in the city, the guest of his brother, W.
S. SMITH.

Mrs.  MATTIE  CLARK,  manager of the telephone exchange at Archer City, is in town today
on business.

ED.  B.  GORALINE  and  E. P. WALSH and their families are enjoying an outing of several
days at Lake Wichita.

Messrs.  W.  G.  EUSTIS  and  FRANK ROUNDS, two enterprising citizens of Henrietta, were
here today on business.

Messrs.  J.  M.  PRITCHETT  and  DUMAS  WHEAT  will  leave tonight on a business trip to
Fort Worth, Dallas and Sherman.

JOHN  HIRSCHI,  one  of Wichita county's thrifty farmers, was in the city today and made
this office an appreclated call.

Mr.  and  Mrs.  JOE  WOLF  and  son, FRANK, of Charlie, Texas, were in the city today en
route to Milton, Illinois to visit relatives.

Mrs.  D.  MEREDITH of Dundee, who has been visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. F. KERR
of this city, returned home this afternoon.

C.  B.  BRYANS,  a  prominent  farmer  from near Mabeldean, was in the city today on his
return from  a business trip to Southern Texas. W. S. NOBEL of San Augustine, Texas, who
has  been  visiting  his  brother,  Mayor T. B. NOBLE and family of this city, left this
afternoon for Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Mrs.  THOMAS  COFFIELD  of  Quanah and her niece, Miss VIOLA BEATON of Minelo,, who have
been visiting Mr. and Mrs. T. M. SMYRE of this city, left this afternoon for Quanah.

Mrs.  A.  L.  FOOT  and  children  of Denison, who have been visiting her father, GEORGE
W.  EAGLE  and  sister,  Mrs.  MILTON  ERWIN, left this afternoon for Henrietta to visit
relatives.

Mrs.  J.  S.  STONE  of Randlett, Oklahoma, who has been visiting W. R. STONE and family
of  this  city,  left  this  afternoon  for  Iowa  Park  to visit her sister, Mrs. A. B.
LIGHTSEY.

Mr.  and  Mrs.  R.  E.  NUTT  and  their little granddaughter, Miss LOUISE STEVENS, have
returned  from  their  six  weeks  visit  to the Pacific coast country. While absent the
visited  the  cities  of  Denver,  Sal Lake City, Ogden, San Francisco and various other
places of more or less interest to the summer tourist.

J.  C.  ADAMS,  the  editor  of  the  new paper at Petrolia, the Petrolia RoundUp passed
through the  city  this  morning en route from DeLeon, Texas with a carload of household
goods  and  printing  machinery.  Mr.  ADAMS  was  formerly  editor  of  the DeLeon Free
Press, but lately sold out his plant at that place.

Mrs.  JOSIE  BRANHAM  and  children  of  Salt Lake City, Utah, are in the city, visiting
Mrs. BRANHAM's sister, Mrs. S. E. DERDEN, 1304 Scott avenue.

Sheriff WALKER of Quanah was here today on official business.

Mr. T. B. SNYDER left yesterday for a visit to his old home in Ohio.

Mr. and Mrs. W. A. HARBIN of Petrolia were shipping in the city today.

Col. J. J. MATES left this morning for a visit to his old home in North Georgia.

Mrs.  J.  R.  THOMPSON  of  Houston  arrived  in  the  city this afternoon on a visit to
her parent's, Mr. and Mrs. W. F. DURAN.

Mrs. J. B. BRITTON and children left this afternoon for Munday to visit relatives.

Dr. R. I. MILLER returned this morning from a short visit with relatives in Amarilla.

Mrs. J. G. HARDIN of Burkburnett was in the city today on her return from Colorado.

T.  P.  MCCLURE,  state  cattle  inspector, with headquarters at Stamford is in the city
on business.

S.  T.  SCALING  of  Dundee  was in the city today on his return from a business trip to
Fort Worth.

P.  H.  Pennington  and  W.  P BONNER returned last night, after a business and pleasure
trip to St. Louis, Chicago and New York.

Messrs.  M.  DAVIS  and  G.  M.  LOVE,  two prominent citizens from Seymour, were in the
city today on their return from Fort Worth.

J.  R.  HYATT,  bookkeeper  for the Farmers' Bank and Trust Company, returned last night
from a business trip to Stephensville, Texas.

F.  E.  ADAMS  a  dry goods merchant from Knox City was on his return from St. Louis had
been to purchase .

J.  C.  CUNNINGHAM,  county,  is  here  today  to  who is wanted to answer of forgery at
Abilene three years ago.

Mr.  EVAN  JONES,  Jr.  returned  from a visit to Weatherford last night, accompanied by
Mrs. JONES and baby. They will reside here in the future.

Mrs.  WILLIAM  JOCHRENDT  and  son,  LESTER,  returned  this  afternoon after a visit of
seven weeks  at  Bellinger. They were accompanied by mrs. JOCHRENDT's sister, Mrs. FRITZ
ERNSTE, who will visit here.
