ADAMS CEMETERY, COLEMAN COUNTY, TEXAS

The inscriptions for Adams Cemetery were updated by Judia and Ralph Terry on August 16, 1998, and are current to that date.

To reach the Adams Cemetery, go about one mile southwest of Burkett on State Highway 206 and turn right (west) onto a dirt road, then immediately take the dirt road to the right (north).  Continue on this road for about one and one-half miles.  Soon after crossing the Pecan Bayou and winding up the north bank, take the first dirt lane to the left and the cemetery will be a short distance on the right.

In 1898, D. M. Adams gave 1.26 acres to be used as a cemetery to the trustees of the Burkett and Live Oak communities (Coleman County deed records - Volume 39, page 499).

The cemetery is fenced and well-maintained in grave area.  Some of fenced area is overgrown, but probably does not contain graves.  There is a gate at the southeast corner.  Reading began in the southeast part.  Graves were read by rows, in a snake fashion, possibly separating family plots.
