      John Edgar (Edd) Bryson was born August 20, 1885, in Memphis, Tennessee.  He came to Texas in late 1890, then to Talpa about 1903, with a load of cattle for Bradley McClure.  He married Katie Belle Norris, October 21, 1906 (see J. A. Norris).  After their marriage, they moved to Coolidge, and about 1915, returned to Talpa and began stock farming; moving to the Voss community in 1934 and lived there until 1951, when they moved to Coleman.  He continued ranching at Voss until 1968.  Edd passed away August 25, 1971, and Katie passed away March 9, 1983.  They had eight children:

     (1) Maggie May, born August 2, 1907, at Talpa, married John Frank Adian, February 19, 1927.  Maggie passed away May 29, 1966 and Frank, May 27, 1967.  They had eight children: Maudie Louise; Oweta LaJuan; Alfred Norman; George Franklin; Betty Mae; James Loyd; John. nie Wayland; and Mary Nell (see Etienne-Adian).

     (2) Mertices Izora, February 4, 1909, in Navarro County, attended Spring Creek and Possum Trot schools, married S. S. (Bud) Mercer at Talpa, November 10, 1923 (see Mercer Family).  They lived in Coleman County until 1948, then moved to San Angelo.  Bud retired in 1973, and they moved to Valera.  Bud passed away May 5, 1981.  They had three children:

       (2a) Creath Lewis, married Myrtle Arm strong in San Pedro, California, August 30, 1944, and had four children: Robert Lewis; Verna Louise; Brenda Joyce; and Danny Ray.

       (2b) James Bruce, (J.B.) married Mozelle Moser in Valera, May 25, 1947 (see Carroll-Moser). Four children: Sharon Mertz; Becky Lucille; Mary Jane; and James Andrew.

       (2c) Doris Ruth married Laneal Maedgen August 4, 1946, in Valera. They have three children: Victoria Lanell; Karen Sue; and Ronald Bruce. Izora lives in Valera.

     (3) James Thomas, December 16, 1910, at Coolidge, married (1) Virginia Anderson, two children: Jo Ann and Janie. He married (2) Marie Ray, December 19, 1945.  One child: James Thomas II.  James Thomas was a veteran of World War II.  He passed away February 18, 1981.

     (4) Cleo Bell, August 22, 1912, at Wortham, married Alfred Gaston Crosby at Valera, March 20, 1937.  Alfred was born December 24, 1908 at Cross Plains, died August 5, 1983 buried at Coleman.  They lived in the Valera area for a while then moved to the Leaday community.  Two children: Edgar Howard and Elizabeth Delores.

     (5) Johnnie Edward, October 14, 1916, at Talpa, married Betty Christene Saverance in Coleman, August 7, 1940.  They were married 38 years; Johnnie passed away on their anniversary, August 7, 1978, in Coleman.  He was a lifetime resident of Coleman County, a stock farmer at Voss and Leaday.  He was a member of the Mozelle School Board and the Coleman County School Board for many years.  He was music director at the Voss and Leaday Baptist Churches and taught Sunday School classes for many years.  Johnnie received the first letter jacket ever given away at Mozelle High School; the jackets were given out alphabetically and Bryson was the first name on the list, term 1935-36.  They had two children:

       (5a) Johnny Loyd, born July 14, 1942 in Coleman, ranched at Voss and Gouldbusk for several years, now resides in Coleman where he operates a livestock hauling business.

       (5b) Gloria Jean, May 8, 1945 in Coleman, married (1) Robert Dean McClure, June 9, 1963, in Santa Anna (see John Edward McClure). They had three children: Shirley Juanita; Melissa Michelle and Jamie Darlene.  Gloria married (2) Billy Dwane Haas in Coleman, December 9, 1975.  They have ranching and farming interest at Fisk and Leaday.

     (6) Archie Neal, May 6, 1919 at Talpa, married Marjorie Allen, November 2, 1946.  They were engaged in farming and ranching in the Gouldbusk community.  About 1964, Archie opened Coleman Wool and Mohair Warehouse and ran this business until his death, May 26, 1970.  He was a veteran of World War II.  Marjorie passed away May 25, 1974. They had one child: Barbara Marie.

     (7) Dorothy Lee, June 12, 1921 at Talpa.  She was a hairdresser in Coleman until she married Melvin E. O. Hardy, February 28, 1942, in Houston.  Dorothy passed away January 24, 1974 at Midland.  They had four children: Rodney Edward, Marneice, Patricia Ann and Randy Logan.

     (8) Velma Jo, July 6, 1929 at Talpa married (1) Thomas Elbert Moore, May 17, 1947.  They had two children:

       (8a) Jesse Lee, born July 8, 1950 in Coleman, lives in Cody, Wyoming;

       (8b) Cynthis (Cyndi) Elaine, May 2, 1952 in Coleman, married 1) Eddie Knight, one child, Kallene Ka. Cyndi married (2) Larry Johnson, September 26, 1981.

     Velma Jo married (2) Andrew Edward (Andy) Fenton, January 14, 1977.  She has been employed at the First Coleman National Bank for 17 years.
