Noah Weatherly Clayton was born in 1854 in Mayfield, Washington County, Arkansas, the son of Willie Dodson and Mary Brice (Weatherly) Clayton.  Noah married Samantha Medora Walker, born in 1850 in Arkansas, in 1875 in Washington County, the daughter of William Walker, a Baptist preacher.  They settled in the Burkett area on the Jim Ned around 1880.  They had four children:

     (1) Bent Billey, February 24, 1881, 14 miles west of Coleman.

     (2) Leslie Lee, November 12, 1886 in Coleman County.

     (3) Ethel, married J. F. Tompkins in 1896 in Coleman County.

     (4) Mildred Etta, married Theo Doshia Watson in 1899 in Coleman County. They had at least two children, Hellen Corine and John E., born in 1906 in Burkett.  This family moved to Fort Worth.  Noah Weatherly, Samantha and two sons moved to New Mexico in the early 1900's, then on to Arizona.  A sister of Noah's, Effie Minerva, married William James Clark.  His family came from Arkansas around 1897-98 and lived on the Jim Ned for about a year, then returned to Arkansas.
