"In 1929, the Modern Hotel was located at 219 1/2 South Commercial Avenue. (219 1/2 South Commercial Avenue was the second story of 219 South Commercial Avenue.) It was owned by Mrs. Mae Hambright, who also lived there. Living at this address was Miss Stella Pearce. Rooming here was W. W. Cole; B. E. McDowell; William H. Ruth, a helper at Home Bakery.; and Loyd Scrivner." (Coleman City Directory, 1929 - Hudspeth.)
There were many business located on the first floor
