   Memorial services for Roxie C. Martin, 87, of Ropesville, Hockley County, Texas will be at 10:00 a.m. today at Ropesville United Methodist Church with Daniel Echols of Ropesville and Meadow United Methodist Church officiating.
   Burial will be in the Ropesville Cemetery under the direction of Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home.
   She died Thursday, May 30, 1996 at her home.
   She was born August 23, 1908 in Indian Territory, Oklahoma. In 1928, she moved to Ropesville. She married Arzie Raymond Martin on October 29, 1929 in Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas.
   She was a member of the Ropesville United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and the Senior Citizens of Ropesville.
   She was a homemaker. Two sons preceded her in death, Raymond in 1957 and Clifford in 1982.
   Survivors include her husband; two sons, Leonard of Levelland, Hockley County, Texas, Billy Ray of Howe; two daughters, Jessie Faye Martin of Ropesville and Helen Hazelbaker of Smyer, County, Texas; a stepsister, Maxine Clark; 12 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
   The family suggests memorials to Hospice Family Care, Inc., 1408 19th Street, Lubbock, Texas 79401; or to Senior Citizens at Ropesville.

Arzie Martin

   Services for Arzie Martin, 90, of Ropesville will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in Ropesville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ted Dotts, chaplain of Methodist Hospital officiating.
   Burial will be in the Ropesville Cemetery under direction of Franklin-Bartley FuneralHome.
   Martin died Wednesday, June 12, 1996, in Lynwood Manor in Levelland.
   He was born March 9, 1906, in McMinnville, Tennessee. He moved to Ropesville from Paris, Texas in 1925. He married Roxie Cooper on October 29, 1929 in Lubbock. She died May 30, 1996.
   He owned several businesses in the Ropesville area and he helped build Ropesville United Methodist Church. Two sons, Raymond and Clifford, preceded him in death.
   Survivors include two sons, Leonard of Levelland and Billy Ray of Howe, Ok.; two daughters, Jesse Faye Martin of Ropesville and Helen Hazelbaker of Smyer; a sister, Lucy Littlefield of Ropesville; 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
   The family suggests memorials to Ropesville United Methodist Church.

   Services for L.E. "Doc" Whitehead, 82, of Ropesville will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Ropesville with the Rev. Gregory Kinch, pastor, officiating.
   Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
   Whitehead died Thursday, Jan. 16, 1997, at Methodist Hospital.
   He was born Feb. 9, 1914, in Hasse. He was a former Lubbock and Ralls resident. He married Hester Shindler on March 25, 1932, in Silverton. He was a member of Ropesville First Baptist Church.
   He was a retired farmer and auto mechanic. A son died in 1934.
   Survivors include his wife; four sons, Edgar of Lubbock, Edwin of Denton and Maurice and Harrell Gene, both of Ropesville; a daughter, Georgia Cox of Wolfforth; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Estelle Arant

   Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.
   She died Thursday, Feb. 13, 1997, in Quaker Villa Nursing Home.
   She was born in Iona. She moved to Ropesville in 1939. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Ropesville and the choir. She married Loyd K. Arant, and he died May 4, 1969.
   She was a homemaker.
   Survivors include two sons, R.D. of Wolfforth and Harold of Levelland; a daughter, Doris Jackson of Lubbock; a brother, Homer Tapp of Lubbock; a sister, Beatrice Green of Abilene; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Robert Sullivan

   Services for Robert N. Sullivan, 93, of Lubbock will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Embery, a church strategist for New Mexico Southern Baptist Convention, and the Rev. Greg Kinch, pastor of Ropesville Baptist Church, officiating.
   Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.
   Sullivan died Saturday, Feb. 22, 1997, in Methodist Hospital.
   He was born March 29, 1903, in Montague County. He moved to Lubbock County from Vernon in 1922. He moved to Ropesville in 1940. He married Jewel Love on Dec. 7, 1922, in Chillicothe. She died June 21, 1990. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Ropesville, and he was named the oldest farmer on the South Plains by the Texas Department of Agriculture for District 2 in 1988.
   Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Pierce of Ropesville and Barbara Embery of Albuquerque, N.M.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
   The family suggests memorials to First Baptist Church in Ropesville.

Kenneth Atkisson

   Services for Kenneth Murl Atkisson, 53, of Lubbock will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Sunset Church of Christ with Dan Rouse of Sunset Church of Christ officiating. Gene Amerson of Hartley Christian Fellowship Church in Hartley will assist.
   Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under direction of White Funeral Home.
   Atkisson died Thursday, May 1, 1997, in Methodist Hospital in Lubbock.
   He was born Sept. 21, 1943, in Tahoka. He graduated from Ropesville High School and attended Lubbock Christian University. He married Mary Jane Andrews on March 6, 1964, in Lubbock. He moved to Lubbock from Ropesville in 1963. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
   He was a marketing manager for Option Care.
   Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Deserree Sharay Atkisson Digby of Lubbock; his mother, Lucille Atkisson Telchik of Lubbock; and a sister, Garnetta Aktisson Douglass of Lubbock.
   The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today.

Irene Martin

   ROPESVILLE - Irene Martin, 87, of Abilene and formerly of Ropesville, died Tuesday in an Abilene hospital.
   Graveside services were held Wednesday in Ropesville Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Titus and Oscar Batten officiating, directed by Rix Funeral Directors of Lubbock.
   Mrs. Martin was born in Gustine and she, with her husband, owned and operated Martin Egg Farm in Ropesville for many years. She moved to Anson in 1984 and Abilene in 1995. She was a member of the Nazarene Church in Ropesville and was the widow of Jim Martin, whom she married in 1927 in Lubbock.
   Survivors include one son, James Edward Martin of Anson; one brother, Luther E. McCormick Jr. of De Leon; three sisters, LaRue Reeves and Alene Reeves, both of Abilene, and Ada Mae Dunn of Clyde; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
NOTE: These are my grandparents. They lived in Ropes all their married life. My grandmother eventually sold her home and moved to Abilene to be near her son and sisters. We later moved to Abilene to be near her.

   ROPESVILLE (Special) - Memorial services for Leroy Carothers, 62, of Ropesville will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Kinch, pastor, officiating.
   Cremation will be under direction of Calvillo Funeral Home of Lubbock.
   Carothers died Tuesday, July 22, 1997, at his residence.
   He was born July 16, 1935, in Dickens County. He married Barbara Odom on April 20, 1957, in Ropesville. He was a Baptist, and he moved to Ropesville from Lubbock in 1972.
   He was a farmer.
   Survivors include his wife; three sons, Roy, Clint and Roger, all of Lubbock; his mother, Mirtle Carothers of Spur; two sisters, Agnus Williams and Linda Dement, both of Lubbock; two brothers, Alvin and Bill, both of Afton; and a grandchild.

   Burial will follow in the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home.
   McKee died Saturday, Aug. 30, 1997 at Methodist Hospital.
   He was born in Tillman County, Okla. He had been a Lubbock resident since 1991 after moving from Lake Possum Kingdom. Previously he had been a longtime resident of the Ropesville and Clauene areas. He was a Baptist. He married Billie Hewlett on May 12, 1948, in Ropesville. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
   He was a farmer and had managed cotton gins in Ropesville and New Home.
   Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Karen Kay Rowland of Ropesville and G.G. Fillingim of New Home; five sisters, June Moreland, Jimmie Carr and Audrey Blair, all of Levelland, and Ruth Berry and Jackie Stephenson, both of Lubbock; and seven grandchildren.

   Whitehead died Friday, Oct. 3, 1997, at his residence.
   He was born July 8, 1940, in Ropesville. He married Donna K. Anderson on March 17, 1983, in Lubbock. He was a Baptist. He moved to Lubbock from Ropesville.
   He was a mechanic, and he worked for the Ropesville Independent School District, Anton Independent School District, BYOB Water Store and Andy's Ice Cream.
   Survivors include his wife; seven sons, Terry Miller, Tommy Burkhead, Jerry McDannels and Andy McDannels, all of Lubbock, Edward Whitehead of Levelland, Earl Miller of Ropesville and Robert Adams of Littlefield; four daughters, Tammy Kirkland of Littlefield, Vicki Castillo of Anton, Patricia McDaniels of Baytown and Lisa Woolums of Lefors; his mother, Hester Whitehead of Ropesville; a sister, Georgia Cox of Wolfforth; three brothers, Edwin of Denton and Maurice and Harrell, both of Ropesville; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

   She died Sunday, Nov. 2, 1997, in Levelland.
   She had been a Ropesville resident since 1937, moving there from Trenton.
   She owned Buster's Gin Cafe in Busterville for 13 years, and was lunch room supervisor for Ropes Independent School District.
   She was very active in the Ropesville Senior Citizens.
   She married Otha Kent Briggs on Nov. 28, 1928, in Trenton. He died in 1980. A son, Otha Kent Briggs Jr., died in 1931. A daughter, Bettie Jane Moore, died in 1989.
   She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Ropesville.
   Survivors include a son, Jim Briggs of Levelland; a sister, Cornelia Paleteria of Redwood, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

   She died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 1998, in Sentara Leigh Hospital in Chesapeake, Va.
   She was born May 23, 1914, in Hamlin. She married Andrew Bert Martin on Nov. 9, 1931, in Ropesville. He died May 13, 1945. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Seagraves. She was a homemaker and a restaurant operator.
   Survivors include two sons, Troy Sifley Martin of Seagraves and Burt Laverl Martin, Sr. of Seminole; three daughters, Elvia Inez (Martin) Bridges of Denver City, Norma Faye (Martin) Ward of Albuquerque, N.M., and Carolyn Ann (Martin) Mills of Chesapeake, Va.; three sisters, Odell Maulder of Arizona, Edna Bird of Seagraves, and Ruby Faye Morriel of Skitook, Okla.; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
   The body will be at 510 Railroad Ave. from 12 noon Friday until 12 noon Saturday.

   Littlefield died Friday, March 12, 1999, in Lynwood Manor.
   He was born May 9, 1908, in Meadow, Texas. He married Lucy Ethel (Martin) Littlefield on March 2, 1953, in Clovis, N.M. He moved to Levelland from Ropesville. He served on the Ropesville City-County Cemetery Committee and Volunteer Fire Department. He was a carpenter and a farmer and a member of First United Methodist Church.
   Survivors include his wife; a son (nephew), Jesse Leon Littlefield of Odessa; a daughter (niece), Francis Joan Littlefield Tindel of Levelland; two sisters, Verdie Harris of Lubbock and Docia May Bagwell of Weatherford; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
   The family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church in Ropesville or to Meals on Wheels.
   The body will be at the church from 1 p.m. Monday until services.

   He died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at Covenant Medical Center.
   He was born May 28, 1927, in Cumby. He moved to Hockley County from Vernon in 1956. He married Dorothy Hoard on Dec. 17, 1949, in Vernon. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a ginner at Lockettville Gin.
   Survivors include his wife; a son, Perry of Wolfforth; two daughters, Pattie Jo Maynard of Meadow and Beverly Wiley of Idalou; a brother, Charles of Wichita Falls; a sister, Bettie Tuggle of Cumby; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

   A private burial will be in the Ropesville Cemetery under the direction of Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home.
   He died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, at University Medical Center.
   He was born Aug. 7, 1921, in Roby. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He married Dorthy Calhoun on Aug. 30, 1941, in Lamesa. He started farming in Lamesa in 1946, then moved to the Ropesville area in 1954, where he farmed until his retirement. He was Conservation Farmer of the Year in 1979. He was a member of the Church of Christ for 57 years, serving as an elder at the Ropesville Church of Christ for 28 years.
   Survivors include his wife; three sons, Glen and Royce, both of Ropesville, and Larry of Lubbock; four sisters, Berta Volger, Marie Rinewalt and Betty Miller, all of Lamesa, and Nina Acuff of Amarillo; a brother, J.D. of Lamesa; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
   The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

   She died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003.
   She was born May 20, 1914, in Richland, N.M., and had been a resident of Ropesville since 1947. She married JR Smith on June 26, 1932, in New Mexico. She was a homemaker and a member of the Nazarene Church of Ropesville, where she taught Sunday school, served as missionary president and on the church board for many years.
   A son, Mickey, died in October 1973.
   Survivors include her husband; three sons, James of Graham, John of Ropesville and Gerald of Lubbock; two daughters, Donnie Allen of Ropesville and Martha Vaughan of El Paso; two sisters, Leona McMillan of Merryville, La., and Dorothy Broxon of Mississippi; 16 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

   Burial will be in Ropesville Cemetery under the direction of Geo. C. Price Funeral Directors in Levelland.
   She died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003.
   She was born May 23, 1914, in McMinnville, Tenn. She married Bernice Garner Littlefield on Dec. 23, 1934. He died Feb. 16, 1951. She married Tommie J. Littlefield on March 2, 1953. He died March 12, 1999. She also was preceded in death by a grandson.
   Survivors include a son, Jesse Leon Littlefield of Breckenridge; a daughter, Francis joan (Littlefield) Tindel of Levelland; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
   Visitation will be until Friday morning at the funeral home and from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the church.

   He died Monday, March 3, 2003, in Ropesville.
   He was born Oct. 23, 1912, in Woody. He was a resident of Ropesville since 1947. He married Ocie Beryl Beeman on June 26, 1932, in New Mexico. She died Jan. 1, 2003. He was a World War II Army Air Corp veteran. He operated an auto- repair business and farmed in the Ropesville community. He was a member of Ropesville Church of Christ and Ropesville Lions Club.
   He was preceded in death by a son, Mickey Smith in October of 1973.
   Survivors include three sons, James Smith of Graham, John Smith of Ropesville and Gerald Smith of Lubbock; two daughters, Donnie Allen of Ropesville and Martha Vaughan of El Paso; 16 grandchildren; 36 great- grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.

Cambri Faith Rowland

   On May 20, 2003, we were blessed with a special little gift from God, Cambri Faith Row-land. She filled our hearts with love and joy for seven months, when she was taken home to be with Jesus on Dec. 31, 2003. We will always remember her pre-cious little smile and big baby blue eyes. Cambri was such a happy little baby and filled our hearts with total joy.
Cambri Faith Rowland
   Cambri will be at the First Baptist Church in Meadow beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2. The service will follow at 2 p.m. Burial will be at the Meadow Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
   Survivors include her loving parents, Casey and Lynsee Rowland and big sister Kayli, all of Ropesville; grandparents, Roy and Karen Rowland of Ropesville, and Alan and Shirla Bayer of Meadow; great-grandparents, Billie McKee of Lubbock, Olane and LaDoyce Caswell of Brown-field, and Carolyn Bayer of Meadow; and uncles, Stoney Rowland, Matt Bayer, and Travis Bayer.
   Cambri was loved by a host of friends and relatives and will be missed by all.

Burial followed under direction of George C. Price Funeral Directors in Levelland. Memorial services were at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Church of Christ in Lubbock with Lee Towns officiating.
Hollis Parker
   He was born June 30, 1930, in Lubbock. He graduated from high school in Ferris, Texas, and moved to Levelland in 1948. He married Wanda McDermett, Nov. 27, 1949, in Levelland and they moved to Lubbock in 1956. He was a member of Sunset Church of Christ and was retired from Lena Stephens Clothiers.
   He is survived by his wife Wanda of Lubbock; two daughters, Patti Jennings and husband Randy of Lubbock, and Linda Fox and husband David of Ropesville; two brothers, Harold Parker of New Deal, and Eddie Parker and wife Pat of Lubbock; and three grandchildren, Blayne Bell of Lubbock, Hosanna Fox of Ropesville, and Brandon Jennings of Dallas.
   The family suggests memorials to Children's Home of Lubbock, Lubbock Meals on Wheels, or Phoenix Home Health Care in Lubbock.

   Raymond Wright, 59, of Shallowater departed this life on Jan. 11, 2004, in Tracy, Calif. He was born Sept. 18, 1944, to the late Virgil Lee Wright and Violet Estelle Robertson in Ropesville and graduated from Ropesville High School in 1964. Mr. Wright married Janice Earlene Clark on March 6, 1970, in Loop.

   They moved to Shallowater in 1990 from Lubbock and are members of the Twelfth St. Church of Christ. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Those left to mourn his passing include his wife, Earlene Wright of Shallowater; two sons, Lance Wright and wife Jennifer of Lubbock, and Landry Wright and wife Britani of Shallowater; one daughter, Christi Greenlee and husband Brannon of Lubbock; two brothers, Virgil Wright of Abilene and Stephen Wright of Ropesville; four sisters, Emagene Davis of Stephenville, Joice Davis of Lubbock, Erma Wright of Wolfforth, and Joan Smith of Levelland; five grandchildren, Caleb, Alyssa, Kenna, Johnathon and Tanner.
   Services will be Saturday, Jan. 17, at 10 a.m. at Twelfth St. Church of Christ in Shallowater with Mr. Kent Smith and Mr. Don Wood officiating. Graveside service will be Saturday, Jan. 17, at 3 p.m. at Loop Cemetery in Loop. Family will greet friends on Friday, Jan. 16, at White Funeral Home of Lubbock from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
   Arrangements are under the personal care of White Funeral Home of Lubbock.

   Funeral services for Lillian Brasher, 89, of Levelland will be 2p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, at George Price Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Wendell Horn, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Levelland, officiating. Burial will be at the City of Levelland Cemetery under the direction of George Price Funeral Home of Levelland.
   She died Sunday, Nov. 20, at her home and was under hospice care.
   She was born July 28, 1916 in Weleeka, Okla., and moved to Levelland in 1926. She married Richard H. Brasher in Portales, N.M. Dec. 25, 1932. He died in 1992. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Ann Morrow, in 2003. She was a published author, having written several works, including Hockley County - The First Fifty Years, 1921 -1971. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Levelland.
