My Dad was born in LaMesa (sharecropper's son). My Grandpa, Walter Reed Willis, born in Van Zandt Co, was part of the formation of the 36th Division at Camp Bowie in Fort Worth. I have posted a circuit' (sp?) picture of Ambulance Co 142, 111th Sanitary Train, WW1 at the Tarrant Co. TX GEN Website..My gr gr grandfather William M Piper came to Texas after the Civil War. He was with the 12th Alabama.. I think he was a farmer. He and family are buried in the New Salem Cemetery. The caption to the picture is full of family info as well as his Obit..

He fought with the Bass Cavalry during the Civil War . After the war, he was a wagoner delivering supplies. He's buried in the Old Pioneer Sandflat Cemetery near AthensMy family names are Willis, Piper, Spears,
