| PAGE 1 Garner Seaquist Mason, Texas 76856 After Graduation I attended the University of Texas for two years. The great depression ended that. From 1929 to 1933 I was associated with my father in the boot and shoe business in Mason. From '33 to '38 I carried on the business. In 1935 I married Clara Nowlin from Pontotoc. From '38 to '54 we ranched and farmed on Honey Creek, including 2 years I spent with Brady Aviation. In '54 the "drought of the fifties" moved us to Palacios, Texas. Clara managed the school lunchrooms and I was employed by several companies as an accountant. Spent four years running a lumber yard. Barely survived Hurricane Carla in 1961. In 1964 we purchased the Hill Top Restaurant and returned to Mason. In 1972 I retired and went to work. We have two sons: Dr. M. E. "Mike" in Taylor, Texxas, Dr. Jack L. orthopedic surgeon, Denver Colo.; two grandsons and one granddaughter. ************************************************** Lillie Mae Wilhelm King Rt. 2 Box 105-A Fredericksburg, Texas 78624 After Graduation I stayed home in Fredonia until fall of 1928. I went to S. W. T. T. C. in San Marcos one year. Taught school three years at Lost Creek, McCulloch County. I met R. L. (Bob) King. We married May 12, 1938. He was with Shell Pipe Line. We lived in Fredericksburg until 1952, then in East Texas Areas until retirement in 1962 when we came home to Fredericksburg. |
| PAGE 2 Estella Zesch Hoerster 1601 Wright Llano, Texas 78643 Your request for a biographical resume caught me slightly off guard. As a house wife of 43 years, the thought of ever having to give an account of accomplishments had never entered my mind. The following is a resume of events: The year after graduation was spent at home. Grossville Community Club was in its hey day. Involvement in its Drama and Music Departments offered opportunity to emerge a full fledged actress and clairnet player in the Grossville Band. Enrolled in the College of Industrial Arts, Denton. Favorite room mate was Anna Marie Koock. Subjects chosen, clearly indicate that there was no other ambition than preparing for home making role. Finally presuaded Henry Hoerster, practicing physician in Llano, to let me be his help mate. Our wedding year was 1933. We have one son Jay. Sorry, no pictures to show of grandchildren. Was duly admonished that the life of a country doctor's wife would not be easy. True, but never dull moments and certainly a life full filled. Depression years were most interesting. With no hospital and few paved roads, husband often stayed out all night. Inconvience of only one car, was in time, off set by acquisition of a big bay horse. There was more joy riding. Also gave husband idea to enter wife in Llano's first Ladies Barrel Races. Became golf widow early. Decided "If you can't beat'um, join'em" Among favorite hobbies are painting and flower arranging. Memorable vacations have been in Mexico, Canada, Hawaii and Europe. Lived in Abilene, and later in Mason during World War II while spouse served duty in the Phillipines. 1976 finds us still living in Llano, calling each day a darn good one, because we still get up early, put on our shoes and start moving. |
| PAGE 3 Anna Ingram Dendy Box 43 Fredonia, Texaws 76842 In the fall of '26 I started to the University of Texas at Austin. I went to UT off and on with teaching in between untill 1933 when Douglas Dendy and I were married. We had three daughters and lived in Fredonia. In 1956 pressure from low cattle prices and the drought sent Doug to Monahans for a job. I followed and went back to teaching. He is retired fom a chemical company and I am retired from teaching. Our daughters have families. Helen (Mrs. R. C. Smith) lives in San Antonio. She has a son and daughter -- both college students. Kathy (Mrs. Bob Dye) lives near Abilene. They have a 5 year old daughter. Nancy (Mrs. John Gibson) lives in Lovington, N. M. They have a 13 year old daughter and a 5 year old son. Doug and I live at Fredonia and raise a few cattle. |
| PAGE 4 Ruby May Donop Kothmann Llano, Texas 76843 After graduation in 1926 from Mason High School, I went to college at San Marcos S. W. T. S. C. for one year. Then started teaching school -- two years in Castell and then tree years at Art, My home town. I married Gleasen Kothmann. He have four children. Glendine lives in Corpus Christi, Sylvia, in Llano, Marilyn, in San Marcos and Herbert lives in Big Spring. Each child has two children. So we have 8 grandchildren. We are still living in Llano County where we started ranching after we married. ******************************************* Vera Holcomb Box 604 Boerney, Texas 78006 After graduating I went to college one year and started teaching. By teaching in winter and going to college in summer I finally received my Masters Degree. During these years I attended Sul Ross, Southwest Texas U., Colorado U., and Western State at Gunnison, Colorado. I taught school first in rural schools, then in Mason, Fredericksburg, and in 1960 I moved to Boerne. In May 1974 I retired after 44 years of teaching. Highlight of my retirement has been a trip to Europe. I have never married. I am anxiously awaiting the great Reunion. |
| PAGE 5 Anna M. Fleming Box 208 Mason, Texas 76856 After Graduation I wanted to to to A. C. C. and major in home economics. Not having the money for this, I stayed home and used the knowledge I learned in animal husbandry and agriculture. During World War II, Daddy and I took care of the ranch while Sam and J. W. were in the Service. I cared for my mother for 22 years after Daddy died in 1950. I have 2 nephews, 2 nieces, 6 great nieces, 3 great nephews, and 2 great great nephews to call me Aunt "Susie". Own my home, and have enjoyed ranching since 1950. Still love the outdoor life. ************************************** Lottie Bratton Gallegly Rt. 1 Box 62-1 Gatesville, Texas 76528 When we graduated from school I moved to Fredericksburg. In 1928 Roy and I were married and moved to Coryell County. We have two daughters and one son and six grandchildren. Roy passed away in 1966. I retired from my Cold Storage Plant job in 1974 and am now living with my son, James Gallegly, at Gatesville. I would love to come to the reunion, but I had to have hip surgery May 6, and I'll have to have the other one fixed sometime the first of July, so that takes care of that. In case I haven't had surgery by then, I will try my very best to come. I sure would love to see all of you. "Hello" to all if I don't make it. I have had a good life. |
| PAGE 6 Eunice Green Giddens 4506 Ave. B Austin, Texas 78751 Following graduation, I attended the University of Texas in Austin for two years where I met Leslie W. Giddens. We married in 1931 and made Austin our home. Leslie died in 1961. Our two older children, Margaret and Leslie, Jr. both live in Corpus Christi while Kathryn, our youngest, lives in Houston. All three children and both sons in law are graduates of the University of Texas and my daughter in law is an SMU graduate. Each couple has two children, giving me a total of five grandsons and one granddaughter. I still enjoy attending UT football games whenever my children come to Austin for a visit during football season. Hook'em Horns. ********************************************** Estelle Ewing Bryan 602 E. Tiger Wetumka, Okla. 74883 After graduating I went to East Central College, Ada, Okla. I took commercial work as my major. In 1930 I went to Wetumka Okla. to teach. There I met and married Eldon R. Bryan. We had three children: Eddy of Dallas; Dale of Wetumka; and a daughter, Carol of Miami, Okla. I have six grandsons. Oct 1, 1974 my husband left this world for a better one. I now live in Wetumka, Okla. alone. |
| PAGE 7 Frantz Reardon Box 87 Mason, Texas 76856 After graduation I worked for the Mason Drug Company two years, then I went into the feed business with my Dad. In 1934 I married Dorothy Zesch. We had two sons, Tommy and Pat. They are both married. Tom and Beth have our only grandsons, Will, age 7, and Sean, age 4. Tom teaches here in Mason and runs the ranch. Pat and Carol Jean have two girls, Ann, age 10 and Wendy, age 6. They live in Uvalde. Pat is with the A&M Research Center. We sold out our feed store in 1961 and moved out to the ranch in 1963. I still work some with Quality Peanut Company. **************************************************** Velma Miller Buntyn Fredonia, Texas 76842 After graduation, I worked as a telephone operator in San Angelo for 2 1/2 years. In 1928, I married Jack Buntyn of Fredonia, and we made our home in that community most of our married life. Jack was commissioner of Precint 2 from 1945 to 1959. We have twins, A. R. Buntyn of San Angelo and Ella Sue Holloway of Voca, two grandsons and one granddaughter. Rearing twins is an interesting project, and one that really keeps you on your toes. Jack died in September of 1973. I now live alone in Fredonia. I have fun being an Avon salesperson which keeps me busy and in contact with the neighberhood. |
| PAGE 8 Preston Prater 1010 Shafner St. Killeen, Texas 76541 I will be 67 September 28, 1976. We have three children, 7 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. They all live in Killeen at the present. Very proud of my family. My sister, Mamie Awalt, and brother Claude Prater, died last year. I am managing a men's store here in Killeen. Have been selling clothing for 43 years. I am taking my social security, also my wife, and working part time. ******************************************************* A. W. (Bert) Zesch Box 315 Wimberly, Texas 78676 After graduating from Mason High School I went to California and all states west of Texas in an open air chevy, 1926 model. Upon returning I held various jobs. My dad bought me a cleaning and pressing business and a brand new Model T. This was when I saw the most beautiful girl I ever saw, and after meeting her I had a date with her that night and many times later. Her name -- Jewell Capps from Pontotoc. We were married in 1929. Had two children, a boy and a girl. In 1938 we left Mason. I spent 30 years in Aviation, retiring in 1971 after mvong 19 times. We now live at Wimberly, Texas Our son Don is chief therapist at V. A. Hospital in Louisiana. He has three daughters. Our daughter, Joan, passed away in 1970 |
| Page 9 Howard Sorrells 1705 N. Walnut St. Brady, Texas 76825 I worked on a farm until 1930. I went to Carlsbad, N. M. and worked six months. I farmed the field where Carl Schmidt now lives three years. I married Emma Foree February 19, 1934. Our daugter was born Dec 21, 1937. She finished high school in 1956. She married Carroll Anderson. They have a boy, Michael Anderson. He is 13 years old, and in the 7th grade in school. I am working in a feed store and mix fee plant in Brady. Best wishes to all class mates. *************************************************** Olga Fay Wood Whitaker (Mrs. Damon Whitaker) Box 276 Mason, Texas 76856 In the fall of 1926 I enrolled in college at (C.I.A.) Texas Women's University at Denton. After a year there I transferred to Texas University at Austin, and continued my college work at the University of Colorado, at Boulder. I taught school here in Mason for two years. Damon and I married May 22, 1931. We celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary this year. We have a son, Weldon, who is a Field Supt. for Exxon, Living in Freer, Texas with his wife (Joan Pluenneke) and their tree children -- two boys and a girl. Our daughter, Deann, is married to John Gregg and they live in Fairfax, Virginia. They have three children -- two boys and a girl. John is employed with the Department of Interior - Bureau of Land Management. Damon and I are retired and enjoying being our own bosses. We have lived in Mason ever since we married. |
| PAGE 10 Jack V. Garrett 3313 Tanglewood San Angelo, Texas 76901 After graduation from Mason High, and later from Pharmacy College, I worked as a pharmacist for two years, then joined the Upjohn Co. I married Helen Kennon in 1930. We spent 38 years with this company, most of which were in San Angelo. We have one son and one daughter and five grandchildren. I retired in 1968 and Helen died in 1969. I am now married to Virginia Eckert Dixon. We are very happy and enjoying our retirement very much. ****************************************************** Ernest Malcolm Jordan Katemcy, Texas 76850 After graduation I farmed one year and went to S. M. U. the next year. I then went to California oil fields. I came back home during the depression and married Uda Ray Finlay in 1935. I operated a store and shearing machine of of Katemcy. We have one son, Ernest, who is now the Art Editor of Texas Hiways in Austin. We went to the oil fields in west Texas, but settled later in Fredericksburg where we farmed and ranched for several years. Then we went into business in Gillespie County for 15 years. We retired in 1973 and moved to Katemcy where we now live. |
| PAGE 11 Seth K. Hofmann 3406 Monte Vista N. E. Albucuerque, New Mexico 87106 After graduating, worked in drug store during the summer months. Entered Baylor School of Pharmacy in fall, completing in 1928. Marry Betty Barnhart in 1929. As a pharmacist worked in Mason, Menard, McCamey and San Angelo, Texas. In 1936 accepted a position as pharmaceutical representive with Parke, Davis & Company continuing this work for almost 37 years, retiring August 1, 1972. Since retirement have kept busy travelling, playing golf, fishing and hunting. Our family consists of a boy, Don and a girl, Karon. | PAGE 12 John Elmer Wiedeman, M.D. SMU Clinic - Hospital Dallas, Texas From Mason High to UT, Austin, then to UT Medical School, Galveston for my Medical Degree in 1933. Then hospital traing in San Antonio for a year, thence to Junction for medical surgical practice for twenty-five years. I married Wanda Scruggs, a San Antonio nurse in 1935. We have a daughter, Barbara, living in Ft. Worth and a son Bob living in Dallas, two grandsons and three granddaughters. Joined Southern Methodist University Clinic Hospital Staff in 1959, became its Director in 1969 and semi retired in 1974. Enjoying family, my work, SMU, Cowboys, bowling, hunting, fishing and fortunately, good health. ******************************************* Lela Strackbein Reichenau 424 Plum Rt 2 Fredericksburg, Texas 78624 I have four grandchildren; three girls and one boy. Two of them live in Austin and two live in Cherokee, Texas. They, of course, give me great pleasure. Somehow it seems that we have a little more time to enjoy our granchildren than we had for our own children. |
| PAGE 13 Anna Marie Koock Geistweidt Mason, Texas 76856 After M. H. S. graduation, Estella Zesch and I took a year's rest. Then as roommates we attended C. I. A., now known as Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas. After nine months of higher education, we came home to work on our M. R. S. degrees. We were married within two weeks of each other. On April 6, 1933 I was married to Arthur Frank Geistweidt. We spent our happy married life in the Hilda Community, Mason County. A daughter, Gaelyn Delane, was born Dec 30, 1934. On Jan 20, 1948 a son Arthur Gerald, was born. Gaelyn married Neil Fisher. They have two sons, Benjamin Neil and Matthew NEil. Neil is a geologist. They live in Houston, Texas. Arthur Gerald (Gerry) married Hortense (Tess) Mendez. They have two daughters. Elizabeth REne and Rebekah Marie. Gerry is an attorney in Mason. They live on the ranch. Arthur Frank was called to his eternal home on Oct. 15, 1969. I live on the ranch. Come see me. |
| PAGE 14 Erna Witt Neffendorf In the fall of 1926 I entered Southwest Texas State College. I begain teaching in Falls County in 1927. In 1931 I came to Gillespie County to teach. T, J. Neffendorf and I were married in 1933 in my parent's home in Riesel by my father, the late Rev. J. W. A. Witt. We have one daughter, Janelle, Mrs. Kenneth Wahl and two grandchildren: namely, Kent Alan Wahl and Leslie Lynn Wahl. These two grandchildren have given us much joy. I received my Bachelors Degree in 1954 and my Masters in 1964. After 43 years in the teaching profession, I retired in 1973. We are living in Fredericksburg and enjoying our retirement. It is a wonderful feeling to know that one doesn't have to be awakened every morning by an alarm clock. ********************************************** Ned Webster Logan 451 Schmeltger Lane San Antonio, Texas 78213 50 years in the field of education; B. A. from Howard Payne; M. A. from S.W.T.S.T.C.; post graduate work in counseling at Tex. U. and in 1975-76, manual communication at San Antonio College. Before coming to San Antonio I.S.D. in 1946 I taught in Llano, Menard, Dawson and Jefferson Counties. The happiest and most rewarding years here were 21 years at the San Antonio State Chest Hospital I now teach a Deaf-Blind Class. My family consists of a daughter, her husband, and three grandchildren. |
| PAGE 15 Ruby Louise Pluenneke Goodrum (Mrs. W. B. Goodrum) 211 West White Ave. San Antonio, Texas 78214 Here is my resume of the last fifty years of my life. I rather resent writing it because it sounds so cold and drab, and my life has been just the opposite: exciting, muchy sorrow, but also much that is beautiful. My work brought me much satisfaction. I am sure that most of you know that my youthful marriage right after graduation did not last long, so I went to school in San Marcos and then taught two years in Streeter before returing to college to complete work on my degree. I finished in 1937 and came to San Antonio and was employed by the Harlandale Independent School District for the next thirty-two years. I taught the first grade for the first few years and loved it, but the board persuaded me to take the principalship in a new school. I finally decided to accept. I did not really want it, but my dad told me I could do anything I made up my mind to do. Two years before this I had been offered the position of Dean of Women at the College in San Marcos. I tried it for a summer and decided it was too confining. I never regretted declining this offer. I got my Master's Degree and then married in 1953, but my husband lived only three years. I remained a widow for twelve years. My greatest happiness came in 1968 when I married W. B. Goodrum, who has brought me the very ultimate in happiness. I worked one more year and he talked me into retiring. I had a hard time deciding, but have never for a moment regretted my decision. I am sure this is two long, but even my thesis committee said I was too "wordy", and I told them I talked that way -- five words where two would suffice. Anxious to see you. |
| PAGE 16 Dessie Leifeste Wisakousky (Mrs. A. A.) 617 McArthur Wake Village, Texas 75501 Thank you for the invitation to the Reunion although we will not be able to attend. After I finished High School I attended Draughen's Business College in San Antonio. I worked three days after I finished shorthand and typing. Idecided to go into nurses training and was accepted at the Physicians & Surgeons Hospital -- Now the Baptist Memorial. I received my RN Degree in 1929. I married Arthur Wisakausky. We have two children, Arthur Jr. is married to Elizabeth Clayton from Scotland. They have one boy and two girls. Joyce Terry, our daughter has one daughter who attends Richland College in Dallas. I am retired by work occasionally on special duty cases. |

If he keeps improving we will try to be there for a half a day. After finishing high school I attended Draughen's Business College. I finished my nurses's training in 1951 and received my RN Degree. **************************************************** Lina Simon Robinson (Mrs. Lewis Robinson) Box 875 Mason, Texas 76856 I gladly welcome celebrating a most enjoyable High School Session. I never followed my pursuit of knowledge to much extent. I took several art courses and music for a year. Went to Incarnate Word College at San Antonio for a term. My desire for academic learning soon began to wane. I finally married Lewis Robinson, A preacher. We had two sons, Jerold and Stanley. We lived in Oklahoma City for twenty-two years. Then we sold our home and two apartment houses and came to Voca where the boys had bought an irrigation farm. They sold the farm in two years. Then back to Mason. Lewis died November 6, 1975 My chief concern now is to see fullfillment of Bible propecy, and to desire more spiritual gifts in the Holy Ghost, that I might whin others to the Kindom of God. He went to work at the Texas State Health Department where he worked until his death in MAy 1968. His wife survives. After his death she moved to Schulenburg to be near her parents. In the 1940's after reporting for Corpus Christi Caller Times and San Angelo Standard Times, Fred married Tommie Wyn of San Angelo and began free Lancing. Fred had two sons, Mike, deceased, Beck of Kerrville and Grandson Benjamin. Of his seven books, Fred wrote movie scripts for Old Yeller, Savage Sam, Hound Do Man and Home Place. In 1973, Fred died at his beloved home on the Llano River. He lies buried in the State Cemetery in Austin. His headstone bears this message: His Books Are His Momument. | PAGE 20 Glenn Capps After graduating from Mason High School, Glenn attended Denver University for two years. He came bacck to MAson and helped his father on his livestock farm. Later, Gleann attended law school in Dallas. He practised law and was County Attorney for may years in Mason. In 1931 he married Henri Mazelle Rupe of Dallas, and had two children: Sally Capps of Mason, and Glenn Capps, MD of Austin. He has two grandchildren. Glenn passed away October 4, 1972 in Mason after a long illness. The following year she taught school in a small community near Pontotoc, Texas. She was loved by her pupils. She was married to Grady Hillman, Jun2 23, 1927 in Fredonia, Texas. To this union a lovely little daughter, Mamye Louise was born. She was the pride and joy of her parents. On Feb 6, 1929, the relatives and many friends of Dena Herring Hillman were shocked and deeply grieved at her untimely death. | PAGE 21 Byron Brown After Byron graduated, he attended University of Texas for one term. He then went to Ft. Stockton and workd for several years for Clint Brezel in a drug store. In 1930 Mr. Ed Reynalds hired Byron to work at the Texas Co. refinery in Tulsa. He stayed in Tulsa until 1939 when he went to the Bahnein Island in the Persian Gulf to work for British-American Oil - a subsiduary of Texico. He remained there until 1950 when he was moved to The Hague. Later he was in Beirut, Spain, and Cape Town, South Africa at British-American refineries where he was plant manager. In 1932 he married Hazelle Pollard from Tulsa. They have a son, Lindsay Byron who is a plastic surgeon in Dallas; a daughter, Beverly, whose husband is with IBM in Holland. They have 4 grandchildren. Byron had built a home in Cape Town and in September 1969 he was was killed by a shock from a faulty motor which was used to circulate water to a swimming pool and ponds in the yard. After graduation from M.H.S. she attended Southwest Texas State Teachers College in San Marcos. She then taught school in Lohn, McCullough Co. and Peters Prairie, Mason County. | PAGE 22 Nell May Geistweidt Henke Nell Geistweidt was born Oct 11 1907. She was a graduate of Mason Hight School in 1926. On June 17 1931, she married Emil R. Henke of Fredericksburg in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mason, They lived in Fredericksburg for approximately 5 years, then moved to their ranch 23 miles south of Mason. On Oct 20, 1934 their son Penn was born. He married Mabel Leyendecker of Fredericksburg in 1957. They have one daughter, Jan. Nov 16 1946 their daughter, Theresa Nell was born. She married Elmer Schmidtzinsky of Fredericksburg in 1967. They have two daughters, Robin and Cindy/ Nell passed away Jun 19, 1960. She was 52 years old. Her husband, children and grandchildren live in Fredericksburg. |
| PAGE 22 b Clayton Schmidt After graduating from Mason High School Clayton attended Schreiner Institute at Kerrville and Oklahoma City University. In 1935 he married Dorothy Ficling of Pontotoc. They had two children; Tom of Philadelpia, Penn. and Christy of Houston, Texas. He served in the US Navy in World War II. After returning home from his military service, he entered the photography business in MAson. He was still in this business at the time of his death on June 29, 1965 at the age of 56. ******************************************* Seth K. Hofmann Seth attended the June Reunion Committee meeting. He was interested in all details of planning, and happy to see classmates. When he and Betty went home he said they would be back early for Round-Up and the reunion. Seth died Monday morning, June 28, 1976 at Alburquerque, New Mexico. |

I resigned in 1928 to marry Arch Carter. In 1932, our son, John A. Jr. was born. My husband was a ranchman, and in the years that followed I found myself in and out of the classroom several times. In 1957, our son, a senior in S.M.U. was married to Carvel Turner of Graham. The following year they lost an infant son., John Arch Carter III. Since Carvel and Pat were both talented performers, they moved to New York in 1959, where Carvel died in 1967. Pat is still in the entertainment business in New York. I retired permanently from teaching in 1964. My husband died Jan 03, 1969 and I have operated the ranch since that time. |
| Page 24 Sterling N. Dobie Prof. SN. Dobie begain his first year of teaching her in Mason High School in September, 1923. After having taught in the school system at ?, Sandia, Abilene and Corsicana. The following seventeen years he served as superintendent of the local schools. He and his family then moved to Dilley, then on to McAllen. In 1945 they moved to Whitsett, where, on May 31, 1970, the couple's children honored them on their 50th wedding anniversary. Prof. Dobie passed away Jul 8 1970. Interment was in the Tree Rivers Cemetery. A son, Sterling Jr, (a twin) preceded him in death in December 1969. Survivors include wife Sue, the former Susuie Pauline Miller, of Mathis; two sons, Neville of Austin and Richard of Three Rivers; a daughter, Sue Marie McNeese (a twin) also of Three Rivers; and thirteen grandchildren. | Page 25 Esther Christilles Brown (Tillie) Many things have changed and happened in the years since I left Mason. From Mason I taught one year at Maxwell, Tex. and then transferred to E. Encinal, Tex. After seven years there I went to Laredo and in 1954 I transferred to San Antonio and taught in South San Antonio Ind. School District until the spring of 1961. In 1960 I married Mr. G. L. Brown of San Antonio and a member of the U.S.A. F. Naturally this brought a transfer to North Carolina in 1962. I taught in the Hope Hills N. C. School for two years and then we were transferred to Japan. During our three years there I taught Military personnel of the USAF and a few of the Japanese Nationals. So for forty years I had many good times, and had wished for a few more. Now I go out when I feel I can make it for a day or two.
