WINFIELD
(Pop. 241)

In west central Titus county eight miles west of Mount Pleasant.  Originally called Barrett for a family of early settlers, it was founded in 1884.  Renamed for W. H. Winfield, general passenger agent of the St. Louis Southwestern Railway of Texas.

Office established under name of Carr.
