This is a picture of the first nursing home in Winnsboro. This nursing home was owned and operated by my mother, Bernice Reed. She started in the hotel in Quitman, but when all of her residents became patients, she moved everything to Winnsboro. This was the first facility in Wood County constructed as a nursing home and one of only 5 in the state of Texas, if I was informed correctly. I know that one of the nurses is Mickey Roberts and one of the patients if my grandmother, Minnie Hausenfluke. I feel that I could possibly identify more with the help of Mrs. Roberts. I enjoyed seeing the picture. It was a new one for me. I bought the nursing home in 1977 from my mother and operated it until 1987. It is still operating today and is owned by Rev. Graham. If you have further questions, please email me. Mary Helen Reed Lawrence, Memetxs@aol.com.
