MART PHILLIPS KILLED BY TRAIN

B. M. (Mart) Phillips was run down by a train in Waco last Saturday morning at 3 o'clock, and died in the afternoon of the same day.  Both legs were cut off above the knee.

Details are meager as to the particulars regarding this deplorable accident.  Mart was night man at the ice factory near the railroad tracks and it seems that he, with others, were watching a train load of soldiers that was pulling into Waco, when he was run down.

Deceased was 27 years old.  He was a son of J. H. Phillips of this city.  He is survived by his wife, two brothers and two sisters.  His brothers were working in the plant with him at the time of the accident.

The interment took place at Millican, the home of Mrs. Phillips, Sunday afternoon.

The Messenger joins the host of friends here in extending sympathy to the grief-stricken relatives in this sad hour.
