Mrs. Bascom H. Ray Buried at Bertram Saturday, May 17th

Mrs. Dora Glaspy Ray, beloved wife of Bascom H. Ray, died at 4:00 o'clock Friday morning, May 16th, at her home in San Antonio after a short illness.

Mrs. Ray was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James W. Glaspy.  She was born September 15th, 1884 in Kentucky.  Her parents moved to Texas when she was three months of age, settling in the Mt. Zion community, where she grew to young woman hood.  She was united in marriage to Bascom H. Ray August 2, 1901.  To this union seven children were born, three preceding their mother in death.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray lived near Bertram for several years before moving to Dallas and later to San Antonio.  She was a member of the Assembly of God Church and lived a consecrated Christian life.  At the time of her death she was 62 years, 8 months and one day of age.

Funeral Services were conducted by Rev. J. P. Manley, pastor of the Bertram Methodist Church, at 1:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon, May 17th at the Bear Creek Cemetery.

Decedent is survived by her husband, Bascom H. Ray of San Antonio; one daughter, Mrs. Audrey Jeffrey of Dallas; three sons: Herschell and Andy Ray of San Antonio, and Handley Ray of Fort Worth; and seven grandchildren; four sisters:  Miss Hattie Glaspy of Bertram, Mrs. Maggie Crooks of Bertram, Mrs. Maymie Griffin of Austin, Mrs. Goldie Reeves of San Antonio; five brothers: John Glaspy, Henry Glaspy and Robert Glaspy of Bertram, Wesley Glaspy of Florence, and Fred Glaspy of Colorado City, Colorado.
