| NOTES: Tom Yates arrived in Nacogdoches Co., TX from GA in 1838; Martha Jane Pate arrived in Nacogdoches Co., TX from AL in 1847. Tom Yates served in the CSA and was a blacksmith by trade. The family were members of the Methodist Episcopal Church - South. In Freestone Co., they lived near Lakes Chapel. Tom Yates died in OK while visiting his son, Vail Yates, and was buried there; Martha Jane Pate Yates made her home with her daughter, Lizzie Yates Willard, in Freestone Co. until her death but was buried beside her husband. |
