Post, Garza County, TX - 1920
Post, Garza County, TX. Mailed from Post, TX May 11, 1912. Submitted by: Temple Dunaway. From: Temple S. Fitzgerald, working in Post, TX. He sent this card to his young daughter, Mildred, in Barbers Hill, Chambers County, TX: "Hello, Mildred. We have sure had a sand storm out hear all day long and I sure wish I was home with you. From your Poppa".
COWBOYS of GARZA COUNTY, TX F.E. "Bud" Marable in group photo, OS Ranch Cowboys 1888. This is an image of my Grandfather, Bud Marable, and his friends for posting in the Cowboy category of the Photo section of the Garza County TXGEN web site. I restored and captioned the photo from an original print and accompanying notation that was in our collection of family photos. I understand that one of the fellows in the photograph, O.B. Kelly, became the first sheriff of Garza County. Submitted by: Dan E. Cockrum
Additional Information: I noted a photo at your website [Cowboys] and the submitter indicated the image was taken in 1888. This is not correct. Bud Boren is in the photo and he came to Garza around 1892 and worked on the O S ranch but was sent to Fisher County to work on the OB ranch. He returned around 1894. The photo was taken in 1898 and the 1888 was probably the result of a typo when the photo was first published in an OS book of 1972. Bud Boren wrote a letter to his daughter about when he came to Garza. Submitted by: Norman Wayne Brown
